May 25, 200619 yr they always sell more than studio albums - in the same way naff compilation album new releases always sell more than new artist albums. We live in the 'spoon-feed me' era.... people nowadays can't be assed wading through a whole album (of 10 songs!) to get to their favourite single unfortunately.
May 25, 200619 yr Obviously she doesn´t, GHMP has not sold anywhere close to 8 million, it´s just delusional Britney fan dreams... It fell off the charts really quick, how could it sell more then albums that spent months in the Top 10´s worldwide? And why doesn´t if feature in any of the IFPI´s year-end bestselling lists, since 4 million is usually enought to make the Top 10? IF GHMP is listed as 3.8 million in IFPI, but Allysa claims it sold 8 million, then Dido´s Life For Rent is listed at 8.5 million, it should have sold 19 million, LOL
May 25, 200619 yr Britney's GH SHIPPED 8.3 million, but I think actual sales stand at just below 6 million... Anyway, back to the original question - in the US, Greatest Hits don't do that great, but in the UK, it very often becomes an act's bestseller. Though it's hard for an act who shifted loads with all of their studio albums (e.g. Anastacia) to sell loads of a Greatest Hits... though, saying that, Eminem had no trouble selling his...

When I like a new artist I always buy their previous albums just to see what they're like, because there's always better tracks on previous albums I find... usually underrated gems no-one has heard, which makes them all the better. ^_^
May 25, 200619 yr It really depends on the artist... look at Madonna's "Immaculate Collection", is a huge selling album... I think GH's need time, you have to speak about their sales with a 5/10 year margin, cause they tend to keep on selling through the years despite not charting so high. And about GH:MP, like Allysa said it shipped 8 million and sold around 7 million which is a great number now-a-days.
May 25, 200619 yr I´m sorry but there is no proof anywhere... These days an album have to be huge to sell 8 million, and GHMP was not. Just like I said, it´s not featured in any IFPI Top 10, and if you compare its sales to other albums that are in or below the 8 million level, you´ll see that GHMP ain´t got nothing on them... Mediatraffic has it at 3.8 million, and it´s impossible that it would have sold more then twice what they say. Just like I said, Gwen´s LAMB was WAY more sucessful and still have not sold 8 million, so clearly 8.3 million for GHMP is a ridiculous joke.

It doesn't have a source though does it, just figures. Anyone can do that. Westlife's recent album sold 44 BILLION COPIES WORLDWIDE. There. I don't need a source or any proof but it must be true as it's written in a thread. To quote you; YOU TARD  Edited May 25, 200619 yr by RabbitFurCoat

Fans always use to exagerate sales of their artists, that´s why I think we should only trust official or impartial information.
May 26, 200619 yr bet it will have shipped 10 million atleast in ten years :cheer: Well, if she has big catalog sales then it will, but teen pop usually sells nothing on catalog.
