Posted February 24, 200817 yr Erol Alkan's rubbing off on them. Very art/pop/electro/rockus. Such a change in direction but it IS rather excellent. I still wonder why they switched the lead single out from "Guilt" to this...
March 4, 200817 yr Wow - it's unmistakably Kate but what a change. 'Guilt' sounds more like a song off the first album remixed. 2 tracks in and and it's a winner, yup!
March 5, 200817 yr Author What do you think of it in its entirety Richie? :o This is competing for album of the year for me against Los Campesinos! It's quite obviously The Long Blondes but so much more experimentation, depth and I don't know. It's a thoroughly engaging listen. Excellence <3
March 5, 200817 yr I was actually quite pleased to hear a change closer to classic Blondes as it went on, not that I don't love the new sound. Only had one listen so far but enjoyed it immensely. I really liked the last song 'I'm Going to Hell' (?) as it reminded me of The Clash's 'The Card Cheat'. My favourite album of the year so far is still Pete and the Pirates and it's a long way off that!
April 19, 200817 yr Got this yesterday, excellent album! Not a single bad track on the whole thing! Nostalgia is my favourite so far.
April 19, 200817 yr Took a while to grow but it's a good album! Still think it flows almost too well though, stuff seems to blend in far too easily....
May 4, 200817 yr Author Why aren't Pete and the Pirates bigger than they are? Because The Long Blondes are better? Or perhaps because your post has no relevance to this thread
May 6, 200817 yr Why aren't Pete and the Pirates bigger than they are? Tiny, tiny label - they virtually do all their own PR I think.
