February 24, 200817 yr So do I It will be easier for Mc Cain to win than it will be for Mc Cain to beat Obama As someone who wants Mc Cain in the White House I fully endorse Hillary ;)
February 24, 200817 yr I agree with Craig. I think McCain would win if he was up against Hilarity. I don't think he would beat Obama. For what it's worth I think Obama will get the Democratic nomination. Unless there are some behind the scenes machinations with the Super-Delegates who I believe favour Hilarity. Or unless good ole Barack has some skeletons in his closet that no-one knows about yet and that are about to be 'unearthed'. :P
February 24, 200817 yr Obama would be a disaster He is a very charismatic guy and I give him full credit as a speechmaker and orator but he is far too inexperienced for the oval office, he has spent most of his career as a junior senator and assistant to the district attorney yet with his limited experience he is meant to be put in charge of the most powerful nation on earth ? big mistake He needs at least 1 term as a vice president
February 24, 200817 yr I didn't say I supported him. I said I think he will win. ;) Charisma shouldn't be underestimated in this TV generation of ours.
February 24, 200817 yr As someone who wants Mc Cain in the White House Why do you want McCain in the White House?
February 24, 200817 yr Why do you want McCain in the White House? He was captured by the Viet Cong? :P
February 24, 200817 yr McCain's actually quite a liberal Republican. Not one of the scary Evangelical preacher ones.
February 24, 200817 yr ^ But a Republican is still a Republican and if the rumor is true that he's going to select Huckabee as his running mate then what sort of a combination do you have? McCain will be under sustained pressure from his VP and much of middle America to move further 'Right'. I don't even buy this 'liberalism' of his, yes he's all into saving the Environment now and what not but so is middle America, he's just reflecting a global change in attitude people of all political leaning. I find it perplexing anyone thinks Obama would win over Clinton when up against McCain. You have 3 cores to American voting. Your staunch demos and your staunch republicans, then you have your 'swing' voters in the middle who can go either way, I can't see these swing voters going for a black candidate, to put it simply I still think much of middle America is institutionally racist and just wouldn't elect him. Plus you have to remember where his support is...affluent white liberals and the black community. He still has as of yet to encompass anyone outside of those parameters as far as I'm aware. He's generally a tricky man. He seems to have NO policy whatsoever, there's only so far a message of 'change' can take you. Plus I do agree he's FAR too inexperienced to take the top job. So I back Hillary over him but both aren't very good, saying that when has America had a good nomination let alone an actually good president?
February 24, 200817 yr Although I like Obama more than Clinton, I feel Hillary is far more competent, while Obama is just a really good speaker for bucket loads of charisma. I for one definatly do not want another bloody republican back in power, eight years of Bush is enough. It is time for a Democrat imo. Although, I do think Obama has a better chance of beating McCain, seeing as he would attract alot of young voters who usually would'nt vote and alot of undecided people who would see McCain as being far too old, which he is imo. I mean, 72 years old is a ridiculous age for the most powerful person in the world. The US needs someone with fresh ideas. I doubt much will change with McCain tbh.
February 24, 200817 yr People probably believe that by voting for Hilary you're going to get Bill. Whether that's a good or a bad thing probably depends on your viewpoint  As my dear old daddy said to me the other night 'What a choice for the Middle America Democrats- a woman or a black man'
February 24, 200817 yr Why do you want McCain in the White House? Because being a Conservative in UK terms I have a natural allegiance towards the GOP in America although I despise Bush

February 24, 200817 yr Huckabee won't be his running mate The rumours in America are that Condy Rice will be Mc Cain's VP, a highly intelligent woman and would also help gain the black vote at the expense of Obama Hmmmm. Smart move if that happens.
February 24, 200817 yr Huckabee won't be his running mate The rumours in America are that Condy Rice will be Mc Cain's VP, a highly intelligent woman and would also help gain the black vote at the expense of Obama Yes, that is what Political experts on Newsnight reckon. She is a near shoe-in as McCann's running mate, because whoever wins the Democrat nomination (Obama or Clinton), she will help to neutralise a lot of their core vote because of her skin colour and/or sex.
February 25, 200817 yr Oh god no. McCain would be terrible; we cannot have another republican as president. And McCain pretty much want all women tied to their refridgerators. I think he wants to get rid of birth control and all that jazz - can you imagine what a disaster that would be? We need Hilary or Obama. I would be fine with each. I like Obama more than Hilary, but with Hilary there's Bill (and Bill was one of the best presidents ever, hands down). I just do no want McCain.
February 25, 200817 yr Huckabee won't be his running mate The rumours in America are that Condy Rice will be Mc Cain's VP, a highly intelligent woman and would also help gain the black vote at the expense of Obama Oh, aren't the republicans clever. Nick the Democrats' USP in one package and still say "hey, don't worry, it'll still be a white man in the White house." I'll take either candidate as long as they become president...I was also highly worried that it may be too early for a black or female candidate as the main democrat runner.
February 25, 200817 yr "hey, don't worry, it'll still be a white man in the White house." No black candidates ran for GOP nomination for president so I don't understand your point Condy at an early stage said she had no interest in being president so of course the GOP candidate is going to be white McCain doesn't need Huckabee, Huckabee supporters are traditionally very right wing and are hardly going to vote Democrat just because McCain gets the GOP nomination, McCain doesn't need Huckabee
February 25, 200817 yr I'd argue that McCain most definitely DOES need Huckabee. There's a lot of unrest in the Republican Party; McCain is simply viewed as TOO liberal by many within the party (though of course in any sense of reality that is one thing he isn't). In-fighting in the Republican Party is just what isn't needed now and furthermore McCain needs to capture the Bible Belt which he's alienated with his natural political form. I don't really think being 'black' or a 'woman' is enough to win this election in all honesty. American's aren't THAT simplistic in their political leanings and in such a conservative society is much of middle America truly going to care for a woman/black candidate being in the running?
