DUFF CHEER

By Alice Walker, Emma Donnan & Katie Hind

Robbie Williams has taken a shine to singer DUFFY and is hoping to duet with her.

We hear the ex-TAKE THAT star, 34, has written a song for the Welsh beauty, 23, and wants to team up for a joint song. Both would be recorded in LA and a source said: "She's really flattered."

Duffy's single Mercy is set to be knocked off No.1 tonight after a five-week reign.

But if the Robbie songs go ahead, it won't be long before she's back in the top spot.

(Cue statement from Duffy tomorrow- 'this is a load of rubbish. Robbie Williams is far too uncool for me to associate with....' )

OMG, an article about Rob without any snide remarks :o WTF

I would'nt mind a duet. She is actually pretty good and sounds like Amy Winehouse. Her song is good as well, although I am getting sick of it being on the radio so much. <_<

I wanna know who the idiot is that's posting all the spoof articles online about Robbie...I've gotten 4-5 each day the past week in my email alerts.

It's very annoying...and I've been waiting to see if any of it appears in the "real" mags.

Robbie Williams is a wok star

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...ticle959972.ece

ROBBIE WILLIAMS is having a rare old time on strike from the gruelling slog of being a pop star.

The beardy pop nob, in a teenage-style huff with his record label, has been filling his time with private cooking lessons.

A pal said: “He has an urge to host his own cookery show and bring out a book with it.

“The problem is, Robbie isn’t exactly the healthiest eater on the planet.

“Who needs lessons in how to cook burgers and chips?

“That’s about all he’s interested in.”

One Goal, One Million - Giggsy and England sign up for Ebay

Ryan Giggs and the England national team have joined forces to boost the Professional Footballers' Association ‘One Goal, One Million' Appeal.

They have offered unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that they hope will raise thousands of pounds for charity –through a special partnership with Ebay.

New England manager Fabio Capello is offering two fans the opportunity to 'buy' a behind the scenes tour of a special training session.

He will invite two winners to attend a forthcoming training session where the lucky bidders will be able to get up close and personal with his England stars. They will watch training before both being presented with a signed England shirt.

Giggs has donated a pair of his match day boots which will be auctioned off to raise funds for sick children, along with a signed Cristiano Ronaldo Manchester United shirt.

Giggs is an Ambassador to the PFA's 'One Goal, One Million' trust fund – a charity specifically established to celebrate the Association's 100th birthday.

The Appeal was launched just over a year ago with the aim of raising £1 million to build a specialist Rehabilitation Unit at the new Manchester Children's Hospital.

Now, auction specialists Ebay have now teamed up with the PFA to help boost the Appeal by setting up a special site for football fans to try and own a piece of sporting history.

Giggs, one of the most decorated players of all time, handed over a pair of signed boots, to accompany a signed Cristiano Ronaldo shirt and an incredible gift from the new England manager Fabio Capello – the chance to watch his players train.

Giggs said: "It is an honour to be able to help the PFA as the 'One Goal, One Million' Appeal is such a fantastic cause. It is great that football can give something back to the community.

"The money raised will go towards helping young children across the North West with the very best facilities as they try to recover from injuries, illness and accidents. The hospital is very close to my heart as my mother has worked there for a long time and I know how badly they need the new facilities.

"Hopefully my boots and the other items donated will make a lot of money for the appeal."

The PFA has been given a number of items from the world of football and music to auction off to try and raise funds for the appeal.

They include:-

* New England manager Fabio Cappello has donated a stunning prize - offering two people the opportunity to come and watch his star players train, as well as collecting autographs and photographs of their heroes.

* Injuries and selections allowing, this is your chance to come and rub shoulders with the likes of David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, John Terry, Frank Lampard and the new look England squad.

* Manchester United star Christiano Ronaldo has personally signed a United shirt to celebrate his double winning success of being crowned PFA Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year.

* This amazing shirt is framed and presented with a special plaque to mark his incredible achievement.

* Arsenal, Manchester City and Glasgow Rangers have all donated signed shirts along with a number of other stunning football prizes.

* Singing superstar ROBBIE WILLIAMS has donated a extremely rare gold disc, which comes framed and complete with a signed photo.

* Acclaimed artist HAROLD RILEY has donated an incredible sketchbook capturing the key moments as Manchester United completed their incredible Treble winning success of 1999, the Premiership, FA Cup and European Cup.

The items will go live this weekend giving bidders ten days to try and secure their dream prize. They should log onto the PFA website, www.givemefootball.com

This is the final event of the PFA Centenary Year which culminated with an England Legends versus the Rest of the World Legends clash on December 2nd, 2007 at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Sven Goran Eriksson guided his Rest of the World team, captained by Gianfranco Zola, to a stunning victory over Terry Venables England squad, skippered by Alan Shearer. Stars from both teams have personally signed the special match day shirts and they too will be auctioned on the Ebay site.

The link to the site, available from Sunday will be: www.givemefootball.com

PFA Chief Executive Gordon Taylor added: "This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of sporting history, we hope it will raise lots of money for our charity appeal."

King William (Shakespeare)

A third of Brits don't know Shakespeare wrote plays - and many of them think he was King of England.

A new survey also reveals 25% didn't realise John Keats was a poet, with some saying his famous Odes were written by Robbie Williams.

Others believed poet Sylvia Plath was lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas. Less than a third knew Winnie the Pooh author A A Milne was a writer.

Our ignorance about our famous authors was revealed in a poll of 3,000 people. It also showed almost two thirds did not know Oscar Wilde wrote The Importance of Being Earnest.

Some 70% have never written a poem to a loved one though two thirds would like to receive one.

Poet laureate Andrew Motion, 55, said: "Although most people accept that poetry has a vital role in personal as well as national life, these findings show a depressing level of ignorance.

"The good news is that 61% said they would like to have poetry play a role in their lives - in which case we hope they might also want to write one."

A cruise firm is offering a seven-night holiday to the writer of the best poem, chosen by Andrew. The framed work will be displayed on board.

:o :o :o (It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic. Do British kids actually go to school these days? I blame ICR for all this :P )

I came across this typo today, LOLOL!!

Marsha Garces Williams filed a divorce petition in San Francisco on March 21, ending her marriage to Hollywood actor Robbie Williams, 56, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split, a spokesperson declared.

Robbie, Robin. Meh it's all the same to those pesky Americans.... :P

Ukraine travel ban on Robbie songs

Ukrainian travellers are up in arms after authorities in the east European state banned British pop and rock music from being played on state airlines and railways.

The country's Ministry of Transport has issued a decree that only Ukrainian songs could be played over the sound systems in aeroplanes and trains run by the state, local media has reported.

But locals have complained after they said they wanted to listen to western music.

Oksana Petrenkova from the capital Kiev said: "When I'm travelling I want to hear someone like Robbie Williams, not some folk band from the countryside.

:o

 ICR teaching her young charges that Keats is Robbie  I can imagine it now!
