EastEnders dropped to a 14-month audience low on BBC One in a clash with Emmerdale on Tuesday.

The episode saw Lauren Branning (Madeline Duggan) confront mother Tanya (Jo Joyner) about her relationship with her brother-in-law Jack (Scott Maslen).

Just 5m (26.8%) tuned in from 7.30pm - far short of the soap's 8.3m (37.5%) average for the year to date, and the smallest audience since 4m (19.6%) on May 17 last year. An additional 1m (5.9%) watched the BBC Three repeat of the episode at 10pm, however.

ITV1 easily dominated the slot, with Emmerdale drawing 5.8m (32.5%) between 7pm and 8pm, while the Channel 4 News was watched by 852,000 (4.8%).

Charles Wheeler: A Tribute, BBC Two's special programme in memory of the broadcast journalist who died earlier this month, was watched by 841,000 (4.7%). Five's Megastructures interested 296,000 (1.6%) between 7.15pm and 8pm.

Later on, BBC One drama Bonekickers dropped another 800,000 to reach 4.6m (21.4%) in the 9pm hour, down from 5.2m (24.3%) last week and 6.8m (30.5%) for its opening episode.

ITV1 came second in the slot, with 3.9m (18.2%) watching a Doc Martin repeat, while the penultimate episode of Gordon Ramsay's F Word drew 3m (17.5%) to Channel 4.

Ouch

HARDMAN Jase Dyer’s life hangs in the balance after he is attacked by a brutal torture gang.

He is left for dead when his criminal past catches up with him.

The Daily Star has watched the blockbuster scenes and Jase, played by Stephen Lord, 30, ends up covered in blood and crying for his life.

The drama unfolds on the eve of his wedding, with stunning bride Dawn (Kara Tointon, 24) unaware of the harrowing assault.

But we are keeping tight-lipped about whether Jase makes it out alive.

Billy Mitchell finds himself caught up in the drama, too.

Dodgy

Over the coming weeks Billy will be seen desperately trying to provide for his family.

When all his options fall apart, he is forced to help Jase in one of his dodgy deals. But it is a set-up as the thugs from Jase’s past return to settle old scores.

When the ex-con discovers they have kidnapped his son Jay (Jamie Borthwick, 14) he calls on Billy to help but Billy does a runner, leaving him to be tortured.

Perry Fenwick, 45, who plays Billy, exclusively told the Daily Star: “You will see a real similarity between these two.

“Here are two men so desperate to provide for their families that they have been driven down this path of violence.

“Their paths collide but things go horribly wrong.

“I don’t think Billy has thought things through. He doesn’t expect to suddenly get caught up in what is effectively a gang war.”

This could lead and involve Honeys departue :(

also emmersdale ratings are hardly impressive considering they are running a conclusion to a big storyl;ine that going on a while,,,this storyline is the max stacey and tanya thing from eastenders so in that regards i think emmerdale have nothing to boaost about

''Bride To Be Dawn Swann will be left a broken woman on her wedding day leter this year-when her groom Jase Dyer meets his maker. Jase becomes embroiled in the murky world of organised crime again. As Dawn gets ready to walk down the aisle her fiancee is heading into the sights of his killer...''

''This will be a fantastic way to depart. His exit will leave fans stunned-and for Dawn & Jay, the fallout will lead to even more dramatic material.''

:o

apparently billy gets involved in jase's dodgy dealings as an attempt for money, but bails out at his opportunity to help him on his wedding day... could lead to billy/honey/both's departure?

I didn't know that Sean and Roxy were getting married until Monday :o
Have to admit, those last 5 minutes or so of tonight's episode was great fun, typical EE trash, everything suddenly kicking off.
I loved it when Roxy and Sean were in the car coming back to the Square after they got married. It was hilarious!
