Posted March 7, 200817 yr The Enemy's Tom Clarke has criticised awards panels for handing out so many gongs to the Arctic Monkeys. The Sheffield rockers took home three NME Awards last week for Best Track, Best Video and Best British Band. They also bagged Brit Awards for Best Group and Best Album. Commenting on their victories, Clarke said: "It just shows The Brits and these other awards shows are spineless. It's disappointing the Arctic Monkeys were given loads of awards. "They only won so much because the bosses knew it wouldn't offend anyone. These awards have turned into the Arctic Monkeys show. I suppose you can't begrudge them one award. "They have had one good album and one average one. But they haven't done anything special this year." Earlier this year Clarke attacked the Arctic Monkeys for having a "dull" second album. March 7, 200817 yr the guys are so funny..."They have had one good album and one average one. But they haven't done anything special this year."...oh well... i m glad sometimes to see bands like the enemy to remind us the difference between good music n bad music...if you know what i mean... hey , dear enemy its time to leave the arctic monkeys show n start writin somethin good...
March 7, 200817 yr Author I don't mind criticism, infact I think it's a good thing but these comments are stupid I must admit. The awards are for the previous music year, yes I agree the Arctic Monkeys have done NOTHING in 2008, but they did a lot in 2007 (which is what this years BRITs relate too). Just reeks of bitterness to me. :P

I think he was right in saying the Brits felt it was safe to award the Monkeys the awards for album and band as it 'wouldn't offend anyone' (that is if the guy from the Enemy said it to begin with  which he probably didn't! Just my opinion and you can throw the tinned fruit whenever you feel like! Norma Edited March 7, 200817 yr by Norma_Snockers

Norma I see where you're coming from and how you can agree with his comments, but for me personally I love FWN and I think it's fully deserving of all the awards it's won. Everybody had different tastes and opinions on tracks and that's what makes music discussion at the end of the day as it'd be muchly boring if everyone liked the same stuff. :P I like people criticising Arctic Monkeys as I think it shows the signs of a good band. The lead singer of The Enemy is quite an arrogant man and I do actually think deep down he's a little pissed that they've not got as much press coverage as Arctic Monkeys have as they're similar bands that play the same type of music and they've both similar backgrounds. I don't think they BRITs played it safe - personally for me it was the best album nominated and they thought the same. Thing is though, they've not won every award for their album so he's kinda contradiciting himself a little with his comments as they didn't win NME best album, Mercury Music Prize etc.
March 8, 200817 yr Oh dear! He's getting worse! Tom Clarke is OFFICIALLY the biggest w*nker is music right now, he's so stupid it's unbelievable! He has no idea what he's on about when he's singing let alone when he slags people off! In the rest of that interview he slagged off Muse because apparently their lyrics aren't great because you know he's written BRILLIANT lyrics with The Enemy :o Being this 18 year old who's tired of work as he's had SO much experience of it! :o and apparently bands like Oasis and Manics are 'real people'. Arctics MOVED on from singing about getting drunk something The Enemy will never do hence why they won't last long and Arctics will be around for a while yet. FWN was a masterpiece both musically and lyrically hence why it's got so many awards.
March 18, 200817 yr Author The Enemy have claimed that the Arctic Monkeys are losing touch with their roots. Tom Clarke's band said that they didn't approve of the Arctics dressing up as clowns in their 'Fluorescent Adolescent' video and putting on country gent outfits for the Brit Awards. Writing in the Daily Star, they said: "Arctic Monkeys have lost it a bit since they started wearing fancy dress. "Their first vid, for 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor', is one of the best ever. It’s a bunch of working class lads belting out a tune they’re passionate about. "But now they’re turning up to things dressed as clowns and English country gents, it’s as if they’ve forgotten where they came from. Klaxons can get away with dressing up in weird costumes because it fits with their music." It is not the first time The Enemy have complained about Alex Turner's band. Earlier this year they moaned about all the awards they had won, while Tom Clarke said in January he thought the Arctics' second album Favourite Worst Nightmare was "dull". However, the band denied speculation that that they are envious of the Arctics' mainstream success. The group commented: "We’ve been accused of being jealous of Arctics, but we have massive, massive respect for them. "Their first album was amazing. However, their second is boring. It’s a let-down. And there’s no need to dress like clowns." Source: Digital Spy
March 18, 200817 yr Dear Enemy, i suposse that its better to dress like clowns than to act or even worse , to sound like clowns... :heehee:
March 18, 200817 yr Well Tom where are the Enemy's roots then? Oh yeah I forgot you've got none because all they do is pretend to be something they're not  You can just see where you're gonna go in the future :o Doing erm.. the same thing over and over.. What's wrong with dressing up? They're doing something DIFFERENT from their last album! And they're being THEMSELVES and ENTERTAINING at the Brits, they're as bad as the Leona fans there really  Anyway as I've already said The Enemy will be gone in a couple of years because they'll never change.
