March 9, 200817 yr definitely a penalty, dive like that as a keeper and miss the ball you are in BIG trouble. Red may have been harsh but the penalty was so well taken well it doesn't matter who was between the sticks
March 9, 200817 yr Rooney is English, must've overlooked him. I do however agree with the point you are making.. I didn't. Just forgot to put (5) next to him. I said maybe one more, the maybe is Scholes...
March 9, 200817 yr It was definitely a penalty, the sending off could maybe be considered harsh but the keeper came for the ball and although Baros tripped in the end over the keeper, in other circumstances he could have been taken out by the keeper. If the referee was going to give a penalty then he should have sent him off, as those are the rules (but those rules aren't always followed by refs!).
March 9, 200817 yr sending off may have been a bit harsh but it was definitely a penalty! From the official rules: "A player, substitute or substitued player is sent off and shwon the red card if he commits any of the following seven offences: 5. denies an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player's goal is an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick" And as the player was brought down, it's a red card. Have to say I thought Fergie's comments were outrageous, As were Quiroz's: "it's referees like him who let the Taylors of this world", referring to Mark Taylor's horrendous tackle on Eduardo. If you remember, Wegner retracted his statement. I have seen no retraction of Quiroz's comments.

No doubt he thinks these fouls are perfectly aceptable because of the shirt the players are wearing: vMKvbQ3nt-M iJDhJvkFtZA qmTyPd5oqqg
March 9, 200817 yr Coming from a non-Man U supporter i have to say, this was the first of 2 of the biggest comedy events in football this season. Regardless of all the ifs and buts seeing Rio Ferdinand flapping his arms around in goal for the penalty was hilarious (he got merked) and the look on Sir's face was absolutely priceless.

March 10, 200817 yr TsINpSVbJjM Looking at that again ,was it even a sending off/penalty? He definatley tripped over Kuzscack. Maybe a penalty for intent but.... You can see from the video at 30" the goalie(Kuzscack) played only for the ball. After the players knee caught the goalies head and then the player jumped to fake a dive at 32", it's a give away, because of the movement of the right leg that he could of moved forwards and step with, but instead pushed from his left leg for a dive. Good acting. :P
March 10, 200817 yr played for ball, missed it, you're digging your own grave if you do that, end of :P
