Hung Up couldn't have been more Madonna. Same for Music, and American Life, in very different ways. 4 Minutes could be anyone. :(

It's not like Gwen has never copied/been inspired by Madonna, but Madonna will make this her complete imagining - how she came up with this amazing ground breaking record. etc.

I agree, atleast Gwen credits Madonna when she is inspired by her.

To be fair though, when has Madonna ever revolutionized music? She always reinvents herself, but always changes into something that has always been around.

Confessions era, 'Hung Up', the producers took an Abba track and made it sound 10 years younger. That's nothing, it's been done before. Now '4 Minutes'. The genre is old, Timbalands productions (compared to Danja's 2007 productions) sound old a weak. Yet she's still this inspirational artist..

Madonna is a pioneer for pop music, I won't take that away from her. But she is definitely overrated.

It's great. Although it doesnt sound like she's given it much effort in the song. It don't remind at all of Gwen or Nelly though. It's got more of a Justin Timberlake vibe to it (probably cos he's on the tracK)
very weak track... will be remembered as her worst single to date....
its not brilliant i have to say but its not terrible either mif this was released by anyone but madonna id doubt it would even make the top 10 but thats th enature of the business and madonna has a huge fanbase that stand by her which is to be admired also

I love both this and American Boy! :D

This is really good, (Again electo-pop theme going around) and I kinda agree with Ryan, it is Promiscousy LOL.

And what's with Madonna and clocks  :P

I love this song but the problems I have with it are this:

For such a global superstar she has very little to do on this song, I think Justin probably sings more than her!

When I think of Madonna I think of an artist who likes to push the envelope on pop music, this is her adhering to a sound that's been around for awhile.

There's nothing distinctive about it that has her 'stamp' on it.

Having said these things I have listened to it 21 times since I downloaded it this morning :P

I heard the song for the first time last night on the radio. It's nothing that special to me. I suppose if I heard it more I would like it more too. When I was listening to it I thought it was weird that Madonna didn't have like a huge or necessarily the main part in the song. I think Justin has a big part in it too. I'd think Madonna's comeback single should be more aimed at her?
I've heard another song from the album and its miles better than 4 Minutes, pure classic Madonna all the way! But i still love 4 Minutes, its fantastic and i just hope it makes #1 soon!

sorry to say, but i hate it. it grates on me. for madge this song is rubbish. i just dont understand it. its awful. i wish i liked it, but its just........

love american boy though by estelle. loved estelle for years

like a few have said, this is a very unmadonna track for madonna to come back with. she doesn't dominate like she usually does with her big singles. its all about timbaland's energetic groove. justin has the better singing parts and suits the production better you associate his sound with timbaland. strangely madonna doesn't even sing the title "4 minutes". on paper this = HUGE worldwide number #1. warners are definately courting the US radio and market. i can see why she is leaving her record company to get more control cause madonna didn't want this as a lead single this collabo seems forced and too calculating on their part.
