That was really hard to read... think they need to find somebody else to write for them.

once i cannot buy certain singles anymore on cd i will happily download illegally, as im not payin 79p for one song that i can get for free, even though i dont mind paying £3 for the cd that i can hold in my hand.

i will only pay for albums of artists if the cd single is taken away for good!

they are not more conveniant....and downloads are the reason of death of the physical...

and putting physicals in the back of the shop is one of the reasons why their sales will be diminishing with each passing day....

Right, so having to go into a town/city to find a record store and then finding space to store the cd is more convineint than doing it in 30 seconds in your living room?! Utter rubbish.

And whilst what you say is correct, they're putting them at the back of the stores because no one (or not enough people, anyway) are buying them, because they'd prefer to download due to it being 1) Easier 2) Cheaper and 3 More convienant!

Erm... what? Of course downloading is more conveniant than having to go into a shop and purchase a physical product.

i think it is singling out alot of people who do not have credit card etc.. as they cannot then purchase the singles they really want especially if they are not available on cd, so it is not really fair if the cd single does die out. Therefore the only people who will be able to buy their favourite single is those who have credit cards etc.

Who over the age of 16 doesn't have some kind of bank card?!

And I know people younger than that who just use parents or illegally download, it's hardly any disadvantage...

Think it is a vicious cycle- physical sales were down, so singles have been stuffed in the back of shops. Virgin's/Zavvi's "flagship" megastore in Glasgow has put them at the back corner on the 3rd floor. The vinyl single section is twice as large! (it has enjoyed some revival the last few years). The HMV i went to had an equally pathetic section, with no signs to direct you there, at the back of the shop after the Old Compilation Album A-Z! Even new single releases are not put out at the front of shops the way they used to be.

I live in a large town a few miles from the city but i need to travel to Glasgow to buy singles as the record shops here generally don't stock any singles at all anymore. Lately i have resorted to buying them from the internet which is kind of ironic. This isn't so good though as a download is instantly ready whereas if i can't find a song in a shop i have to wait a week for delivery.

I agree i like to own a CD single, hold it in my hand, and know that if my computer blows up its all there! Looking through an Itunes A-Z isn't the same as flicking through your CD collection. I think record companies probably find downloads more convenient with less costs involved so will deprioritise CD singles, until the point so few are sold they can tell us production costs are obstructive for such small quantities and cancel them altogether (initially they will probably raise the prices again).

A sad day indeed! Love the convenience of the D/L, but love the experience of buying and having my CDs more! (soon to be called nostalgia!)
