I'll be very disappointed if this doesn't make top 5, but I think it will. It deserves no.1 imo but defo cant see that happening :(

hmm... about number 10 - it's so-so.... a pretty hgumdrum Kylie single, but infinitely better than the last 2 singles.

It seems she's moved her reference points away from Alison Goldfrapp for this image, too - Roisin Murphy, anyone? Didn't she wear this chequered outfit in her video last year, or one almost identical?

can't believe some people saying Wow is better than In My Arms

wow is her worst single in a long time

Every single artist has influences. Get over it! The outfit is of the same chequered pattern but differently shaped, not that it matters. Both artists have worked with Calvin too. The shock of it!

*coughs* notice anything familiar about by PN? ( + the date of membership assuming no name change)

I'm not that insane that i would ever suggest that IMA more than a millionth as good as CGYOOMH *but* given the reactions here and that this post hasn't been biased by an infiltration of Kylie loons ( so naturally discount my opinion - i hope top10) isn't the almost universal positive remarks this songs got so far quite unusual (?) - i mean there were even some people (like me!) that didn't SUBJECTIVELY ever think cgyoomh would have been a big hit never mind being the biggest record of her career by far (though i could guess from the reaction 'everbody' else was giving it) ie even the most universally loved tunes there are a minority to whom they don't appeal.

I don't think its done anything spectacular overall with its europe release APART from going briefly top 10 in France and Germany (but i doubt X sold anything in those markets) which has only happened to her most popular lead/pre-album singles after the 80's in these countries.

IMO its the opposite of the previous toe curlingly trite and too cheesified single which i had ranked with the 3/4 trks of the album i rarely bother with listening time...clearly that didn't stop it being popular *but* such a track didn't really, unsurprisngly to me, get people to buy an imagined album full of stuff like that - an album generally needs stability in its later life as weekly sales are small - perhaps Wow although popular has prematurely killed off the album - then again perhaps you can't expect more given her album history.

Whether you like IMA or not you can't say it all sounds like something heard it a million times before + extremely cheesey (its still a pop song designed to have comercial appeal/ ie something familiar to the many) in the way Wow does, in IMA the beat, the sounds, the spoken parts (that sound ANIMATED ie not sounding like someone on tranqs - oK so 'she' probably was on them in hindsight ;) ) have much more inspiring + originality by comparison - i noticed on the first listens on the last bridge when you expect the chorus to follow, instead the music breaks for another spoken part

I think Biff Standard (the main guy behind this - hes worked with diff teams of guys over time but he is the constant) is definately one of the best Pop song writers/producers we've had, of course way beyond Kylie i genuinely thought that unlike boybands,at least the Spice girls came out with memorable, well produced POP and he was the real creative force behind many of them. If you haven't looked at the songs he's been behind you might be surprised - i love some of his material with less famous artists too, they may not have had the comercial clout/exposure but the tunes themselves are still quality and well produced.

i think top 5 at number 4or 5 ,in my arms is good but certainly nowhere near as good as wow,in my arms is one of the best tracks on the album after wow the one and like a drug but its very popular among kylie fans and i think it will have a steady chart run
Every single artist has influences. Get over it! !

 you call '2Hearts' and the Goldfrapp connection just Kylie being 'influenced'? :D It's like saying Madonna's new album cover is just a teensy bit ghastly.... :D

And Roisin has definitely been her 'influence' for this one - but then - has Kylie herself got an original thought in her pretty little head? I can imagine her and her stylist checking the latest videos and copies of Vogue... "I want that one", "Make me look like that".... "Get me that photographer".... it's a shame she can't start her own little trends instead of readily jumping on what her stylist says is "really 'in' at the moment, darling".

I mean, her career's been guided by her gay stylist for years and years.... and before that she was always someone else's mouldable puppet. Deconstruction's for 'dance Kylie', Michael Hutchence's for 'retro sex kitten Kylie', SAW's 'pop princess'...... and on.

And as for her robbing Roisin's outfit- it's not like she wore a similar pair of shoes or had the same hairstyle - the Roisin dress is so OTT and instantly recognisable, so 'in your face'... come on, Kylie... you need to have sass, pizazz and inate, aloof, grandiose stylishness to wear something so bold. Roisin's got it by the bucketload - I don't think she has.

most of her album tracks are so good (no more rain, like a drug, sensitezed, nu-di-ty) but I can't believe she's releasing in my arms over here and then all I see (WORST SONG) in the US!

really bad choices soo far, wow was good though

'nu-di-ty' is complete and utter crud in my opinion, worst song on the album.

You seriously think 'No More Rain' and 'Nu-di-ty' would be better single choices than 'In My Arms'?! OMG! I'm so glad you're not her manager, you'd destroy her. :o

Hmmm I can see why people think why this would be better suited as the 2nd single but personally I don't think it is. This track has just got that summery feeling about it and it will fair much better chart wise being released as the 3rd single than as the 2nd single. I quite like this I must admit, mainly for the production though. :heehee: I'll say it'll chart at #9.
First time I have listened to it, on first listen I prefer 'WoW' but I can see this being a grower ^_^ I reckon about 5/6ish. Will help the album though!

in my arms is a divided choice but then again so was wow and 2 hearts, but the singles have done well enough so far and X has done well and in my arms will boost album sales,i cannot see in my arms struggling to get top 5 at all as its a good song and its very radio friendly

also there isnt anything major been released the same week either

top 5! #4 or 5
