Posted April 7, 200817 yr Mel B. — a.k.a. Melanie Brown a.k.a. Scary Spice — is busy laying tracks for a new album she expects to have ready for release late this year. "It's an R&B-pop kind of thing, a cross between Pink and Destiny's Child. Urban pop. That's what I do best, where I come from, what people know me for," reports Mel. "I've recorded four songs so far with some really great people," she says. She'll begin work with super producer Rodney Jerkins next week. She's also busy with her "Access Hollywood" gig — reporting on "Dancing With the Stars" and chatting up contestants on the program on which she wowed viewers as the perfect-score-getting runner up of Season 5. And she has her own soon-to-be-announced reality show with Joey Fatone already in production for TLC. "The Singing Office," premiering in June, has Mel and Joey pitted against each other to find the best singers out there working in typical American offices. She and her producer husband, Stephen Belafonte, are also exec-producers. And she's launching her own Catty Couture clothing line — heavy on her beloved animal prints — with a fashion show for buyers set to take place in downtown L.A. Monday (4/7). All in all, it's a very good period for Mel, who's certainly had her share of lows — including the failures of past solo music ventures and the relationship with Eddie Murphy that begat daughter Angel Iris and ended bitterly, with Murphy refusing to acknowledge paternity 'til DNA test results came in. Angel turned 1 year old yesterday (4/3), and Mel, who also has 9-year-old daughter Phoenix, planned a baby party. "Life's all ups and downs," she muses. "It's all relative." Can't wait :cheer:
April 9, 200817 yr This is so exciting, it's almost certainly going to flop, but she is one of my favourite Spice Girls, well I like them all about equally apart from Geri. More solo material from her is great news, I've always liked her voice. I hope she can make a song as good as "Feels So Good", "Lullaby" or "Tell Me". Edited April 9, 200817 yr by Adi_Gallia
April 9, 200817 yr I reckon she is gonna have at least one hit single from this album.. it'll be more like the first album and she will promote the hell out of it, hopefully it will sell ok.. it's about time she was the spice girl in the spot light and had some success.. the spice girls would be nothing without her!
April 10, 200817 yr is she recording it in her kitchen like LASOM? I'll still buy it no matter how much the Spices and/or their management have screwed us over
April 11, 200817 yr She's gonna need a lot of propotion to get the album of the ground, but still very exciting
June 4, 200817 yr Author Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown will duet with Janet Jackson to make sure her solo career is a success, Metro can reveal. Speaking exclusively, she vowed to hit back in the singles chart following her first failed attempt. Her last single 'Today' failed to make the UK singles top 40. But now Brown, who has previously had a number one with rapper Missy Elliot with 'I Want You Back' says has called on her new American friends to make her run stick this time round. 'I not scared of having another try. I am working with the best producers ever. I am now ten tracks in to my new record.' 'I am doing something with Janet Jackson which should be amazing. I am also going to hook up with Missy again.'
June 5, 200817 yr i can't see Janet Jackson getting her much of a bigger hit tbh. A lot of the Spice fans are quite a vicious mob  She should do what everyone else has <_< get Timbaland on board
June 10, 200817 yr Janet Jackson's own single didn't do anything, so I doubt adding her to a Melanie B song would help. As Matt Aloud said, she should just jump on the Timbaland bangwagon.
June 10, 200817 yr The Janet rumor is false as is the fact that Mel B confirmed she was touring with Janet which was also false.
July 16, 200817 yr The Janet rumor is false as is the fact that Mel B confirmed she was touring with Janet which was also false. Shame because i think A Janet Jackson sound would be great for Melanie B, certainly better than her second album. I'm so excited I hope this album does well because it's been a while since A spice girl made the top 10, i think the last time it happened was "Downtown" from Emma Bunton
July 17, 200817 yr i hope it goes well but after how badly her last material did its hard to know That's because it was recorded in her Kitchen, I think the bedroom might've been better  I think to help with this album she should get some big names to help produce the album, she has the money now to do so. Get Timbaland, Ronson, Pharrel or someone like that.
