Where are Bhangra now? I thought we might've got back into the top five after getting our highest ever points total this time. :w00t:

6th, only 6 points shy of Simondly's total...you were close to returning to the top 5! USR plummeted 1-7 after Tarkan's tragic showing...

Is this still true

yes, because only three other countries have appeared in all nine finals, and they've all done better than you overall :kink:

I think we take your record for most contests before our first win though

nope, because you've only been in two finals before this one...

An alternative way of calculating based on Top 10 finishes (12 Pts = 1st, 10 Pts = 2nd, 8 Pts = 3rd, 7 Pts = 4th........ to 1 Pt = 10th):

Top 10 Countries (after BJSC9):

1st FSR Rontvia 39

2nd Mdice 36

3rd Bhangra 35

4th Ashton/Fotherington Islands 28

5th Kopecka 27 (6 Top 10 finishes)

6th Kylienips 27 (4 Top 10 Finishes)

7th United States Of Ibiza/Russiatron 25

8th Bokia 23

9th Nonsuch 22

10th Angelic Land 21

still No.1

and must Bhangra always reach the top 5 every time I do :smoke:

I've added this to the main page, with credits for Rich and Peter for help with a couple of the statistics!

incidentally, a question for Peter. Is there any change to the 'most successful songs' table?

You read my mind! Yes there is one change:

1) FSR Rontiva - Sara Bareilles - Love Song - 43% (BJSC4)

2) Mdiče - Katy Perry - I Kissed a Girl - 42.3% (BJSC7)

3) Eledan - t.A.T.u - Gomenasai - 41.3% (BJSC5)

4) Utopia - Pipettes - Pull Shapes - 40.8% (BJSC4)

5) Kingdom of Shadow – Margaret Berger – Will You Remember Me Tomorrow – 39.9% (BJSC9)

6) Kopečka - Stefy - Chelsea - 38.2% (BJSC4)

7) Bhangra - Dixie Chicks - Not Ready to Make Nice - 37.8% (BJSC3)

8) Mdiče – Britney Spears – And Then We Kiss - 37.7% (BJSC1)

9) Frahliso - Serebro - What's Your Problem? - 37.3% (BJSC4)

10) Quotosibb - Beverley Knight - Black Butta - 36.6% (BJSC6)

Another statistic: The top ten most successful countries based on....position or whatever you wanna say it's based on.

Basically each country gets 12 points for finishing 1st, 10 for finishing 2nd, 8 for finishing 3rd down to 1 point for finishing in 10th place. It takes into account that there have been different amounts of points given out in each contest, so evens that out, but still rewards countries who have been in the competition for longer.

1) Mdice

2) FSR Rontvia

3) Bhangra

4) Kylienips

5) Ashton

6) US Russiatron

7) Kopecka

8) Bokia

9) Angelic Land

10) Cascadia

:(

How come it gets added to the front page when TIP does it?

  • Author

sorry Peter, I forgot to add it before when you did it

thanks for updating the other one :D

I hold the record for most consecutive dead last place finishes in a particular semi final with 2 :P

Least successful country to enter three contests :P?

  • Author
only the finals count Nick :P you'll have to finish last in the final with less than 6 points to take the record
nope, because you've only been in two finals before this one...

I think it should.....I mean they still took part even if they didn't get to the final? Did Dustin the Turkey never take part in eurovision just because he didn't qualify from the semis?

Think about this....what if a country has taken part in 6-8 contests.....but has never qualified(unlikly but possible) even though they have a history with the contest they won't be recognised anywhere on the country participation list. I think all countries that have ever participated (final or semi) should be in that list.

It seems a little weird to me that it wouldn't count semi-finalists. I know that it shouldn't include semi points or anything but I don't see why semi-finalists can't be included in other stats that have nothing to do with points. (or maybe have seperate stats for semi-finalists)

Semi-finalists ARE included in the participation list are they not?

ok, I will update the first post with a list of the semi-finalists who never made it to the final...if other people want to work out new stats, like most consecutive bottom 3 finishes, or other semi-final stats, please do and post them in this thread.

I will then edit them into the first post and give you a credit in the first post like I have with Peter30 and thisispop who worked out a couple of things

Countries that have appeared in semi-finals but have never reached a final

Hackyack

Holidannii/Jrk-off

Norwegia

Rossland

Tasha Island

Tinnmark

Vulcania

new stat then :D hope I haven't missed any off...these countries points don't go towards anything...only points gathered in the final go towards total scores, which is why it gives people more of an incentive to qualify!

no I've been in three :P

BJSC 5 - The Tears - 18th in the final

BJSC 6 - Chicane ft Tom Jones - 11th in the final

BJSC 8 - Mutya Buena - 23rd? (very low down) in the final

I only failed to qualify the once iirc ^_^

Cheers for doing all the stats we really appreciate the effort!

yes you're right, sorry...

first post edited, we share the record now :D

I'm glad people appreciate it, it takes me a good hour or more to work everything out after each contest...as I have to add everyone's points onto their current total to work out the overall top 5 and other points related stats

  • 1 month later...

While a 3rd win is no mean feat, Brandy's victory was by no means an overwhelming one, and Mdice's weakest yet, gaining just 35.8% of the possible points on offer.

That means that there is no change to the top ten most successful songs after BJSC X.

Woo - it's one of my favourite winners, but it keeps me in the top 10 for another month.

It still was a more successful victory that Bokia in BJSC2 and Nonsuch in BJSC8 though.
