Kopečka will be damned if they ever make a disaster in the song selection! :smoke:

but you could easily pick a song that could finish something like 18th, but with 70 points

the votes are so well spread in this contest that even a load of good songs finish down in the results table despite getting a respectable amount of points!

I think that, in addition to the big 5, we should have some kind of average points thing for all countries who have been in three or more contests. I don't know if that would make any difference, but it might give the newer countries a chance of appearing in the top few countries at some point. Right now you'd probably have to have been in at least 6 or 7 contests to make the list.

I don't think that would work that well, as for Love Song which won for me in BJSC4 scored less points than Maria & Mira who came third for me! the contests with hardly any participants would heavily pull down the averages for some countries, especially those who were in the earlier contests and then pulled out. I do wonder if people will stop voting for 'the big 5' at some point to try and get their own country higher in the overall stats :heehee:

Hmm. What about working out the average votes in each contest, adding them up and doing an average? E.g. 100 Points from 25 voters makes an average of 4 points then you could get 70 points from 35 voting countries, an average of 2 points. Your average over those two contests would be 3 points.

I guess the problem with that way is that the effort going into working out the stats might be more than it's worth.

Also, I would dispute whether Mdice's first win is really worthy of "Best Debut." Somebody had to win that year, as it was the first Contest, and I think Quotosibb would be more deserving of that title outright.

yeah, I can't really be bothered to do it :heehee:

bear in mind though, that like Kylienips did in BJSC7, some of the 'big 5' are inevitably going to crash out in the semis at some point and then they won't have any points added to their final totals. when that happens, it will give a chance for other countries to catch up. everyone has to keep sending amazing songs to ensure that they never miss the final and keep on racking up points

well, Mdice were just as worthy of that title as Quotosibb...yes somebody HAD to win BJSC1 and Mdice beat off a lot of stiff competition. They DID have the best debut to the contest, just like Switzerland had the best debut to the Eurovision in 1956!

Well I'm not too happy about the Switzerland statistic either :P

but it is a 'song' contest after all and Quotosibb had the best 'song' in BJSC6 just as Mdice did in BJSC1, and it was both their first appearance with the best song of the lot...it's not like it's a vote for your favourite country contest like Eurovision :heehee:...yeah, you could say they have the best debut by default but if the Official Eurovision Song Contest book can do it, then so can I :P

I don't mind sharing the title with Mdice. :drama: They did win in their debut contest, I know it was everyone's debut at the time, but they still won their first contest.

If anybody is interested I've got a new stat.....it's the top ten most successful Buzzjack songs! It's based on percentage of possible points it could have scored from other countries (and yes, I've allowed for countries who didn't vote!)

So it takes into account that more points were available in certain contests....so here is the definitive list of the most popular songs in the last 7 competitions!

1. FSR Rontiva - Sara Bareilles - Love Song - 43% (BJSC4)

2. Mdiče - Katy Perry - I Kissed a Girl - 42.3% (BJSC7)

3. Eledan - t.A.T.u - Gomenasai - 41.3% (BJSC5)

4. Utopia - Pipettes - Pull Shapes - 40.8% (BJSC4)

5. Kopečka - Stefy - Chelsea - 38.2% (BJSC4)

6. Bhangra - Dixie Chicks - Not Ready to Make Nice - 37.8% (BJSC3)

7. Mdiče – Britney Spears – And Then We Kiss - 37.7% (BJSC1)

8. Frahliso - Serebro - What's Your Problem? - 37.3% (BJSC4)

9. Quotosibb - Beverley Knight - Black Butta - 36.6% (BJSC6)

10. Romeria - Europe - The Final Countdown - 35.8% (BJSC3)

by the way, I've posted it on the front page with the rest of the stats Peter!

I'll be expecting you to update it for me after each contest :smoke:

If only I'd saved Jordin Sparks - Freeze for now! :( Vanessa would've only just broken my run by finishing 11th...I'm still baffled at how I flopped so badly with Jordin the second time around! :o
