Posted April 9, 200817 yr Hallo!!! :yahoo: We are a Greek music blog (mix grill - http://gbalmixgrill.blogspot.com/ ) and this month we are researching "music radio" across the world. On this subject, we have already posted many articles about music radio in Greece within the last 25 years. We tend to believe that the current state in Greek radio is unsatisfactory. Furthermore, we would like to research the state of radio in other countries and we hope to help Greek music radio, by posting articles, which show this issue. For this reason, it would be very helpful if you could answer our questions, which follow. 1. How would you describe your country's music radio stations? Are you satisfied in general? A. It covers me completely. B. Enough thanked! It informs me relatively fast for the new circulations, even if I have already learned them in the Internet. C. Neither cold, neither heat… I would like more, but am satisfied by what I take. D. I am not thanked! Continuous play lists, small until by no means briefing on the new things, retrospections in past. E. I am not satisfied at all. We have only 4-5 producers with opinion…! I prefer hearing foreigner radio or Internet radio stations… F. Other: Please write us your opinion. 2. What do you expect from a music radio station? A. Radio shows with different musical viewpoints and many researches about past music periods. B. Radio Shows with information about new albums. C. Both the above. D. Other: Please write us your opinion. 3. Are there mostly playlists or shows with different musical viewpoints in your country's radio stations? A. Radio shows with different musical viewpoints. B. Playlists. C. Other: Please write us your opinion. 4. April 9, 200817 yr Author Come on... Let's see your opinion... We would like to see the opinion of simple radio listeners and not radio experts... Feel free to express it here...
April 9, 200817 yr This is hardly news! My opinons with Radio in general are I want to hear more music and last chit chat and adverts! I'd like Dance Anthems on Radio 1 to be back on Sundays instead of late night saturdays.

April 9, 200817 yr Author Thank you very much Ollie!!! In the third question, do you mean that there are more playlists than real radio shows? The main purpose for making these questions and our articles in "mix grill - http://gbalmixgrill.blogspot.com" is to see the "music radio state" all over the world. I believe that the UK radio stations are in a better state, aren't they? I believe the same for the American Radio stations...
April 9, 200817 yr Author You can see now my anwers to the above questions: (01) I'm not satisfied at all. We have many music radio stations, which have only a few producers and a continuous play list. You can find producers, who play dance music in one radio station for 3 hours and Greek modern music in another station for the next 3 hours, the two stations being owned by the same person. To me, they are professionals, not producers. As you can understand, we don't have many producers, expressing their actual musical opinions. They mostly promote their sponsors and talk about parties etc. Unfortunately, many good producers, who really love radio, don't have radio show anymore. (02) I expect shows with different musical viewpoints, information about new albums and songs – and not only about one specific record label albums – researches about past musical periods, co operations with other radio stations from other countries. Nowadays, we have very good information about music from many Web Sites. It would be perfect if the producers would listen to all the songs of every album (and not only their singles) and share their opinions with us. It is so simple, but we rarely have this information from most shows. (03) 90% playlists and maybe more. (04) I believe that there are only 4-5 producers, who really have good shows, informing us about new stuff in music, researching the past and expressing their opinion freely. Obviously, most of them belong to Public or Municipal radio stations. In most music radio stations, everything revolves around their sponsors and commercial spots. One could say that this makes sense, but I cannot believe that a music station could not have profit, if it is like the one I dream of, like some radios that we had in Greece in the past. (05) Some Greek radio stations belong to record label owners. How objective can they be? (06) Unfortunately, I would prefer to listen to radio stations in my old radio, but I can find better radio stations in Internet. Some of them are Greek and some not. I am waiting for more answers...
April 9, 200817 yr I stopped listening to the radio last year. I do not own a digital radio or I *may* listen to BBC Radio 6, but all terrestrial radio is very poor. Radio 1 in particular is a lowest-common-denominator-serving shadow of what it should be.
April 9, 200817 yr Author Richie, I am really surprized!!! As I wrote above, I believed that UK radios would be in a very good state, because you have so many good British artists... Furthermore, in the last 2 years, I see an improvement in UK Chart and you don't always see rubish in it.
April 9, 200817 yr tbh i dont think this is in the right forum.... but i dunno where else it should be...

April 9, 200817 yr 1. How would you describe your country's music radio stations? Are you satisfied in general? C. Neither cold, neither heat… I would like more, but am satisfied by what I take. Our national stations are fairly good Radio 1 is getting its act together after being fairly awful, whilst Radio 2 is starting to decline (Russell Brand, Dermot O'Leary are personalities not DJs) from being very good. BBC 6 Music is excellent at what it does. Local Independent Music Stations are by & large awful as ever playing the lowest common denominator pap. 2. What do you expect from a music radio station? A. Radio shows with different musical viewpoints and many researches about past music periods. B. Radio Shows with information about new albums. C. Both the above. 3. Are there mostly playlists or shows with different musical viewpoints in your country's radio stations? B. Playlists. 4. Do you have many shows, in which the producers express their musical opinions freely, actually look into music and promote new albums, without being pressured by their sponsors? B. There are a few producers, who really have good shows, informing us about new stuff in music, researching the past and expressing their opinion freely Radio 1 is fairly good after 7PM. Radio 2 has some excellent shows due to having DJs & Producers who clearly love music as opposed to virtually everyone on daytime Radio1 who see it as a career, and don't get me started on Chris Moyles who only plays 8 records in 3.5 Hours and each day you can guarantee one of those tracks is Nickleback's Rockstar. :puke2: 5. What kind of a relationship is there between record companies and music radio stations? C. Other: Please write us your opinion. They are basically married listening to local independent music stations, and Radio 1 is little better. 6. Do you prefer to listen to internet or traditional radios? A. Radio stations. As I don't like the Radio playing out of my PC as it seems to affect its running when I try that.
April 14, 200817 yr 1. How would you describe your country's music radio stations? Are you satisfied in general? Satisfied. Wish Radio 1 and the other leading ones didn't play as much indie though. 2. What do you expect from a music radio station? New music...not tracks from decades ago. 3. Are there mostly playlists or shows with different musical viewpoints in your country's radio stations? Yes 4. Do you have many shows, in which the producers express their musical opinions freely, actually look into music and promote new albums, without being pressured by their sponsors? Occasionally. 5. What kind of a relationship is there between record companies and music radio stations? Monopoly. 6. Do you prefer to listen to internet or traditional radios? Radio in my car
April 14, 200817 yr 1. How would you describe your country's music radio stations? Are you satisfied in general? too generic 2. What do you expect from a music radio station? good music, new and old 3. Are there mostly playlists or shows with different musical viewpoints in your country's radio stations? pure music; talk shows are annoying 4. Do you have many shows, in which the producers express their musical opinions freely, actually look into music and promote new albums, without being pressured by their sponsors? B. There are a few producers, who really have good shows, informing us about new stuff in music, researching the past and expressing their opinion freely 5. What kind of a relationship is there between record companies and music radio stations? B. The record companies control the shows of a radio station 6. Do you prefer to listen to internet or traditional radios? A. Radio stations.

May 1, 200817 yr 1. How would you describe your country's music radio stations? Are you satisfied in general? C. Neither cold, neither heat… I would like more, but am satisfied by what I take. There is this one radio station that I listen all the time. http://www.otvoreni.hr/ All the others are rubish. They all put too much boring and dull croatian music. 2. What do you expect from a music radio station? C. Both the above. 3. Are there mostly playlists or shows with different musical viewpoints in your country's radio stations? B. Playlists 4. Do you have many shows, in which the producers express their musical opinions freely, actually look into music and promote new albums, without being pressured by their sponsors? B. There are a few producers, who really have good shows, informing us about new stuff in music, researching the past and expressing their opinion freely.. Agian only that radio station.
