I'm starting to listen to something else rather than the title track... Can I say that the tracklist is brilliant? It flows just perfectly.

Oh, and surprisingly it's top-75 in the amazon chart, #6 in the pre-orders.

#6 :P I didn't find the figure myself, I read it on PJ. But it's not unbelievable given that it's at #68 in the main chart in which most albums were already released.

I think it's time for my rate.

08 Revolution. It's a good track but I think it could be improved even more. It sounds a bit demo-ish for me.

09 Bittersweet. No words for this, brilliant pop record, it's just the time that has passed for this type of pop, classy and so intelligent.

06 Off & On. Never was a fan of it, I think it's quite average.

08 Heartbreak. I like the song, although it hasn't aged well. But for its time it was very good.

09 Not Giving Up. It's a huge grower, and I didn't rate the song much firstly. I'm not a fan of Armin's work in general, it's just too samey for me, but this song is the highlight.

10 Can't Fight This Feeling. Call me generic c**t but I think this song is just brilliant. Besides, it would 100% the current UK dance scene, hopefully it'll be promoted finally here.

08 Starlight. It's the Richard X work, it sounds like a soundtrack to Santa Barbara or some other American soap opera from the 80s/90s. I just imagine some husband kissing his former love under the table while the wife is taking a shower.

08 Under Your Touch. The intro is one of the most brill moments on the album. It's just divine. I don't rate hugely the other song but it gets 9 just because of the sublime intro.

10 Make a Scene. I think I said enough about the song in the last pages. Perfecto. Very Sophiesticated.

10 Magic. Brilliant work, I'm not surprised it was considered as the lead single. Again 80s influences, this seems rather like a theme from a musical for me.

07 Dial My Number. Good song, it's a bit anxious, sounds like a bit of a filler though.

08 Homewrecker. Love the chorus, not a huge fan of the verses. Middle 8 is a bit weird.

08 Synchronised. She's putting the slower songs to the end, and this is the first of them. Very calm and very Sophie, it's more Shoot from the Hip Sophie.

09 Cut Straight to the Heart. Epic final of the album, it's just what it should be. This song could (almost) be the album title, and I think the mission of the album title would a bit not correlate with the song itself. Make a Scene is much more fitting title to the album.

Overall - 9.5/10, for 100% cohesiveness.

LOL @ the soap opera reference @ Starlight, I laughed so hard at that  (r.i.p As the World Turns :()

And I really like JCFTF as well (very personal to me right now), I think it's underrated.

Edit : Damn you Arrs, now the line 'I could die right here in your arms' is no longer romantic but rather overdramatic. The chorus is now a complete laughfest :drama:

Not too keen on the album at all, I really loved Trip The Light Fantastic but this feels like its a bunch of B-sides thrown together.

I'm not liking this album as much as Trip the Light, but that was to be expected, it's one of my top 20 favourite albums ever. I think the problem is that once again it's a little lacking in cohesion, it's a very strong set of songs with only one proper dud (the title track), yet it feels quite hard to listen to it as a whole. I've already started cherrypicking my favourites and playing them on their own.

06 Revolution

08 Bittersweet

10 Off & On

10 Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer) - my favourite SEB song, for a variety of reasons.

08 Not Giving Up On Love

08 Can't Fight The Feeling

09 Starlight

08 Under Your Touch

04 Make A Scene - great melody, awful production

08 Magic

07 Dial My Numer

08 Homewrecker

10 Synchronised

08 Cut Straight To The Heart

Out of interest, are we getting any bonus tracks on UK edition? I do hope so or even a deluxe CD.
I think we should count ourselves lucky to be getting the album AT ALL, let alone bonus tracks or b sides or deluxe cd's.
I agree. We should just be happy the album's coming out and I don't think there is hope for a deluxe edition or bonus tracks.
Its definately a grower, I love Dial My Number.
Personally I still feel a bit spoiled, as I have heard most of the songs before. I can't imagine how amazing this album would have been if I hadn't listened to any of the songs before. Still, 'Revolution', 'Make a Scene' and 'Magic' are absolute wowness.

My favourite is dial my number. I dont think this album is overall as strong as "trip the lights fantastic" but there are some good songs on there. Problem is, I think she's releasing the wrong ones again like starlight.

I have downloaded the album but haven't had time to listen yet. I've never bothered with a Sophie album before but if I like this I'll give TTLF a go as I loved the singles from it!
I'm in love with this record. Although I know that I'll never gonna see Sophie live unless i travel to the UK or something, I'm a huge fan since Groovejet and this album is really, really enjoyable and flawless :D
Starlight and Magic are quite the growers ^_^

I love it that Heartbreak Make Me a Dancer isn't the single version. Well it is the single version in length etc. but it definitely has more of the old 'harder' sound than the single version did.

Trip is imo still better than this album though, Trip is almost flawless and much more cohesive, and more honest, imo.

Catch You and If You Go are perfect so this album was always going to have a lot to live up to....on another note in Synchronised did anyone else think she said foreskin, instead of cold skin during one of the verses.

Hmm I tend to agree - love the album as a whole, but I'd have said Dial My Number or Revolution would make great singles. Starlight is a brilliant song, but I think there's others that work better as singles.
