Since when were people allowed to bash and abuse others because of their religion and beliefs???

I will be reporting all of you and i expect something to be done about it from the moderators.

this forum is for discussion and debate, that means that you are allowed to challenge religious beliefs if done in an acceptable manner. i have not seen anything on this thread that id call unexceptable, and that certainly includes religion. if you come in here spouting on about religion then youd better be ready to defend your point of view, indeed anyone posting in here does so in the full knowlege that their views on anything are open and fair game for debate, by challenging them.

Where have you been bashed and abused? People are simply challenging your viewpoint, thats not the same as abusing you personally.

My religion forbids gay partnerships, so I have to say I can sympathize with the school. They obviously don't want controversy and fights to break out.

 

Your religion may forbid them, but what about you? Have you given the issue any independent thought?

Welcome back to the dark ages. I mean why to stop here, let's ban all same sex relationships and why stop even there, how about abortion and mini-skirts also. With all the advances that the gay movement has made in the past 10-15 years gays still face so much prejudice and hate even in Western countries. And if people really go on barricades about two guys maybe holding hands or even sharing a kiss that really makes me wonder what on earth is going on. Acceptance starts from little things and if a school formal has a same-sex ban that really shows how screwy some things really are.

 

And for the bashing/abuse claim, it really seems that religious people seem to think they have right to say whatever they like and hide behind the bible (all gays in this site...remember to stay selibate or you will end in hell...no matter wheter you believe in hell or not) but when someone challanges them they are the first ones to scream bloody murder. IMO the reason for that is that, for example, the bible is very contradictory and religious people seem to pick and choose whatever they like (and intepret things whatever way fits them today). The problem being that these things they pick don't stand closer inspection and before someone states a stronger argument they have to shut the other person up. Yeah, having slaves is ok but being gay will send you to hell.

In fairness, i think we should ban abortion too :P But yeh i do get your point, i mean this school needs to wake up to the 21st century to be quite honest.

The bible is a crock of $h!t, IMO. I believe in God, not a book written by a bunch of men who came up with ridiculous fictional stories to back up what they personally believe you should have to do, to not spend eternity in a place called hell. Christianity and Catholicism started off as a good thing, but it has turned into a religion where most of it's members like to judge others and condemn them for what they believe are faults in their character.
