Despite having tremendous success in other countries, Kylie Minogue has not had the same luck in the United States.

According to Reuters, Kylie Minogue’s first album in four years, X, debuted at No. 139 on the Billboard 200, with only 6,000 copies sold.

Regardless of her low album sales, the Australian singer was in the United States the week of her April 1 album release doing TV interviews on NBC's "Today," CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and the "Ellen DeGeneres Show." She also sang on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."

X, Minogue’s fourth U.S release, was released internationally in November and debuted at No. 1 in Australia and No. 2 in Britain.

However, not being a well-known superstar in the U.S may have its benefits.

“It's a slightly weird situation for me because I can still walk the streets here [in Los Angeles] and no one will recognize me. I love it," Minogue told Reuters.

A spokesman for Capitol Records, which released X in a partnership with Astralwerks, said a lot of Minogue’s U.S fans bought imported copies of her album and insisted that the album’s campaign was still in its early stages, according to Reuters.

Minogue kicks off a European tour in France on May 6.

i voted for Americans' Have No Music Taste which is mainly the reason why it flopped...

just look at the recent american chart number 1's, except for Leona's 'Bleeding love' which is great, the rest are a bunch of overproduced hip hop c**p...

Soulja Boy, Flo rida, T-Pain to name but a few....

if Soulja Boy can sell 3.6 million of his awful song then it says a lot about US taste: IT SUCKS!!!!

I'm glad they didn't buy kylie's album, that's proof that it's really good!!!!

Many reasons, the main factors being...

1. The US market is mainly dominated by R&B and hip-hop and is harder for pop acts to break through.

2. Also it's nigh on impossible for a non-American pop act to get a great deal of success there. I guess you could also say people in the US only care for people of their own nationality.

3. There's nothing on this album that could be a hit for her, as it's not the type of music the US go for at all, especially from somebody non-American.

4. 'All I See' is far too bland and limp to make an impression on many people.

5. Since 2002, Kylie's releases have all pretty much bombed there, this won't change unless she has another big hit of CGYOMH proportions.

I went with 'Americans have no music taste' from the poll options though, you only have to look at the majority of the Hot 100 every week to see evidence of this.

The album is bad, i personally dont like and also cant see how any song on there would do anything on American radio so it was pretty much heading that way..just did'nt think it would flop that hard.
Well yeah, Wow is bearable, Speakerphone, The One and In My Arms are good but I;m just saying none of them are American enough like to make it on radio over there, she should have recorded another one or two songs like Natasha/Leona that would go better on radio.
Suprisingly dont like it, it seems to be a favourite amongst fans but i just cant get into it :(, I just feel for a comeback album X is weak especially compared to some of her previous work.

its not a good an album as light years or fever but for me its miles better than body language

i like x but for me there is clearly 6 excellent songs and the other lack those 6

I chose "Bad single choice" but I also think having a video was a huge part too. Its strange how people dont think its a strong album. Ive been a fan since I was 8, im now 28 and I think its one of her better albums esp with Parlophone. To me its only got 1 bad track, 3 average tracks and the rest I love.
I said it's becuase Americans have no taste which is obviously a gross generalisation! It flopped because it's too pop for the U.S, "All I See" is not a strong single, there was no video, the album was available for awhile before it's official release date and Kylie isn't a big star in anycase in America so her fanbase is quite small.

I voted "Americans have no music taste" (but some of them do :ahem:) I don't think Kylie has a big fanbase here in the States, although I really don't know for sure..and there wasn't that much promotion from what I saw, either.
Wait where has it charted at 72? The hot 100 is'nt until thursday and the digital sales are'nt until tommorow.
Let's correct this statement....What you should be saying is that "Straight Americans have no musical taste". I have bought 3 of Kylie's past albums....however, I just think it was the wrong song choice...the song is too mellow and you want to fall asleep when you hear it. She should have started off with WOW as the first single choice....I played it at my friend's birthday party and everyone was asking "Who is that and what is that song?" because they liked WOW. Sometimes I wonder if there is any thought given to what single is released first? Couldn't they have had gotten 10 gay Amerrican guys in a room and played the songs and let them pick the lead single? LOL THEN WOW WOULD HAVE GOTTEN RELEASED!!!
