England wins Soccer Aid 2008

After another exciting clash against The Rest of the World, team captain Jonathan Wilkes scores the winning goal for England.

England fans were in for a treat just nine minutes into the game, as Alan Shearer set up the first goal of the match for former ‘SAS’ partner Teddy Sheringham.

Moments later, The Rest of the World suffered another blow, as devastated team captain Gordon Ramsay left the pitch due to injury just as he did back in 2006.

But footie legend Paolo Di Canio soon lifted team spirits with a glorious goal that put both teams at level-pegging once again.

Shearer soon pushed England ahead, but ‘Safe-Hands’ Seaman suffered at the hands of Sex and the City movie actor Gilles Marini, who equalized for The Rest of the World just before half time!

The start of the second half was a baptism of fire for goalkeeper Jamie Theakston, and he quickly went to ground as Di Canio slotted the ball straight past him, putting The Rest of the World in the lead.

It was McFly’s Danny Jones to the rescue for England after a flawless cross to Shearer to equalize, before the legend took another ball from team captain Jonathan Wilkes.

Whilst it looked like Shearer had claimed another Wembley hat-trick, the star striker failed to touch the ball, and having sealed the deal in 2006, Jonathan scored the deciding goal yet again, claiming England’s victory at 4-3.
