Posted April 22, 200818 yr Official Video (Single Version): 6d9B3qejKe0 Album Version: cqZopQM2450 Ok, the reason of this isn't do to with making this place more active, it's just a coincidence. Today I was looking on Youtube for videos to go along with my top 100 songs (ooh spoiler, this song is one of them :P) just in case I decide to post it on here. When I came across the official video for 'Gold' it played a very different version to the one I know and love. I was like "WTF is this?!" it's a bit like the remix for 'After You', they made it less slow and tried making it a bit more funky. Personally I think this remix pretty much kills the song, the original is just so beautiful and the version played to accompany the video sounds like they're trying to hard to sound commercial. But that's just my opinion, which version is your favourite? The slower album version or the single version?
April 22, 200818 yr In this case its definately the album version I think  With After You I much more prefer the radio edit
April 22, 200818 yr I will agree with Simon that the album version is slightly better. Im not a big fan of Gold myself, i much prefer a lot of her other songs. Looking forward to your countdown Adi, i want to do one but im not sure since the oldest song will from something like 2001.
April 23, 200818 yr Author With After You I much more prefer the radio edit  I like the album version of 'After You' better, but I like both. I don't really like edit of 'Gold' at all, it's just too different to the version I love. I will agree with Simon that the album version is slightly better. Im not a big fan of Gold myself, i much prefer a lot of her other songs. Looking forward to your countdown Adi, i want to do one but im not sure since the oldest song will from something like 2001. But 'Gold' is just so beautiful, it depends what side of Beverley you like best, there's the lovely, not so commercial songs like "Gold", "Queen Of Starting Over" and "No Man's Land" and then there's the more uptempo commercial songs like "Come As You Are", "Not Too Late For Love" and "Keep This Fire Burning". I happen to like both of those types of songs from her. My countdown is similar actually, most of it is from the past five or ten years. I'd say less than a quarter are from before the year 2000. I find it difficult to include songs that aren't from my generation, firstly I like to have lived while the song was about, so I can relate to it more and secondly I think most people think songs from their generation is better. Someone who was born in the 70s is probably more likely to prefer 70s/80s songs and say that was the best period for music. Only 3 of the songs in my list came out before I was born and they all have female vocalists singing most of the song, only two males are included on duets with females. This partly why I am unsure of posting mine because I think people will be all "How can you only have songs that are this recent" and "It's all females, this sucks" :drama:
April 23, 200818 yr Author looks like its def the album version we prefer Yeah, the single version is shockingly bad in comparison. :(
April 24, 200818 yr Author i wonder had the album version been released would it have sold better? I doubt it, the album version just isn't commercial enough. It's just a lovely soulful song, which don't really perform that well here.
April 29, 200818 yr Author Live version is best though :P :drama: show off! I'd love to see her perform this live. If only I realised she came to the Hexagon at the time, it's so close to me.
May 23, 200818 yr Album version IMO is much more special and i do believe that if this was the main track on the single (instead of the single edit/remix) it would of chated better.
July 29, 200818 yr Author  how did you come to bringing this back up Probably because our forum moves quite slowly.
August 3, 200818 yr I too am bringing this back up. I much prefer the album version - maybe because it's the one I know.
