April 26, 200817 yr I remember them I especially liked "Special Way", they were the Scouse version of Texas. Do you remember the Anglo/American duo Siobhan formed afterwards......... KYC9z15TP58 Kindred Spirit - Here In My Eyes (1995) with Debbi Peterson (the drummer from the Bangles). So Siobhan whose River City People scored their biggest hit with California Dreamin' formed a duo with a Californian who's breakthrough came with a song called "Going Down To Liverpool"!
April 27, 200817 yr I always thought they were from Glasgow for some reason! My most abiding memory of them was when they performed California Dreaming on the old CBBC show 'What's that Noise?' - a show which always ended with a big jam session featuring all musicians featured on the show. So, there may well have been nose flutes, bassoons and kids armed with rice krispie 'shakers' on that particular recording. I guess the CBBC connection explains why they turned up there then!
April 27, 200817 yr I have a few of these singles - What's Wrong With Dreaming, California Dreamin' (which was a double A side with Carry The Blame) and Say Something Good, all of which I still have somewhere. Good, but not spectacular, group who had their biggest hit with a cover version of California Dreamin' in 1990. Their preferred choice of A side, Carry The Blame, wasn't radio friendly due to its lyrics being about the effects of an abortion on a young woman. My favourite is What's Wrong With Dreaming which was a minor hit in the hot summer of 1989 - sadly it peaked at #70 during a week when Jive Bunny were at #1!

I have the singles What's Wrong With Dreaming and California Dreaming too, both from the summer of 1990. Also have their last single 'Standing in the need of Love' (No.36 1992).
April 27, 200817 yr I bought What's Wrong With Dreaming when it was first issued back in summer 1989. It cost me 79p for the 12" single, the local record shop was a chart return shop so sold many new releases for 50p for 7" and 79p or 99p for the 12". I forgot the song was rereleased in 1990.
April 27, 200817 yr Their cover of the Mamas & Papas hit California Dreamin' was actually a Double A-side with Carry The Blame It was their biggest of 6 hits peaking at #13 in 1990

Didn't realise that was released before. I know a lot of songs were re-issued and became hits 2nd time lucky in the late 80s/early 90s. Danny Wilson, Climie Fisher and Bros all flopped first time round.
