I saw 2 things over the weekend that suggested Robbie might play the 46664 concert in hyde park for Nelson Mandelas birthday, after a request from Brian May.

Is this complete nonsense or had anyone heard anything????? I need to get tickets if theres any chance!! :)

Firstly hello and welcome to the Robbie forum Mercury :D

As for your post I haven't heard anything about Robbie playing at the gig

lol O!! Did you mean to say 'the robbie' or was that just a type-o?? :D

I heard that rumour a few weeks ago. In fact I think I posted it somewhere in the News thread.

It would be great but I doubt it. Anyway, isn't Paul Rodgers still 'fronting' Queen?

When is this?

It would be great, but if he is not releasing a new album this year I think it is best not to. He should do a big appearence at a charity type gig like this, but a few months before a new album to get all the hype around him again like with Live 8 :D

This is why I doubt it's true. Queen have a mega tour and a new album coming up (with Paul Rodgers on vocals). Is he likely to get dumped for Robbie at a mega concert that Queen would use as publicity?

Unless Brian May wants Robbie to play the banjo or something...

But then again.....

A MANDELA SURPRISE

NAOMI CAMPBELL is pulling out all the stops to ensure her "adopted granddad", Nelson Mandela, has a 90th birthday to remember.

Campbell is said to be helping organise festivities for a blow-out summer event, where the likes of Bono, Rihanna, Jay-Z and Leona Lewis will perform. Friends such as Kate Moss and Lewis Hamilton are also rumoured to attend.

And as if a supermodel party planner and the most stellar guest-list on the planet weren't fabulous enough, the grapevine is buzzing with whispers that Robbie Williams will perform at the event with Queen - dressed as the band's legendary front man, Freddie Mercury. (April 30 2008, AM)

:w00t: I've registered to buy tickets for this next week

Robbie or not, there has to be some good acts due to play

if the line up is c**p, I won't go

A list will be announced on Tuesday 6th May

I'm hoping Donny will make an appearance -_-

:cheer:  :cheer:

If Brian May has asked then I doubt that Robbie would turn it down. Although then again, I sadly cannot see it happening. :(

Queen, Annie Lennox To Sing for Nelson Mandela

by Paul Cashmere - May 9 2008

The line-up for Nelson Mandela's 90th Birthday has been announced.

Queen + Paul Rodgers, Annie Lennox, Leona Lewis, Simple Minds, Razorlight Shirley Bassey, The Sugababes and Andrea and Sharon Corr will play at the gig in London's Hyde Park on June 27.

Early is was reported that Eminem would play the concert. That is still a rumour. U2 is also rumoured to be a special guest act, as is (the more unlikely) Amy Winehouse and Spice Girls.

At the 46664 website, the official site for Mandela, he says "you all know that I am supposed to be retired but my friends and the charitable organisations that bear my name want to use my 90th birthday year to raise funds to continue our work and so of course I want to help them. So, we have a bargain - I am going to London and they will host a concert in Hyde Park, which will raise awareness of our continuing work and much needed funds."

I'd get tickets if Eminem and Wino turned up.
I doubt Wino's in any fit state to perform at a concert....

Agreed.!

And is Eminem confirmed? Last I heard his name it was in relatino to him putting on a huge amount of weight and being a recluse? :o

Me three.

I heard he's releasing this year though, besides getting fat.
