If that's really what they're doing, then it's perhaps a bit of a risky move. Releasing after the second single would be really striking while the iron's hot.

good greif.... the next 'big thing' can only muster a paltry #9 in the midweeks dispite all the hype?..

wake up... you might like them but nobody else appears to. anything less then #5 on sunday is disasterous , no business can run at a loss... if they aint profitable then theyll be gone by crimbo.

Exactly... Another failure of All Saints proportions seems to be in the offing here..... If the album doesn't do well, they're gone..... This is just how the mainstream record industry works nowadays, no nurturing of talent, just manufacture, hype, marketing and PR..... The actual MUSIC doesn't even enter into the equation anymore.... The wonderful world of Pop Music in 2008.... Fukk it, you can keep it, I think I'll stick with something a bit more real....

Mushy, quit this 'anything less than #5 c**p'. Would a #6 be disasterous and a #5 not? No, it depends on how big sales are this week. Sales mean everything and positions nothing.

nope.. the point is that sales are low anyway, so when they fail to get a decent chart position it will be an indication of how much they have sold.

true singles dont make money (most of the time) albums do... but the single is the showcase, the appetiser, the advert, for the album..

pity i wont be in the country on sunday when the chart is announced....

I suppose if we didn't already have the Sugababes  and Girls Aloud, they'd be more readily accepted, but (to use a phrase from Scowell) they're bringing nothing new to the table, we have the raunchy Pussycat Dolls for that, The Saturdays are all very pretty and the song isn't bad, but do we really need an older version of SClub juniors?

Glad they are top 10, hope they climb a little higher come sunday!
Nope, the third according to the girls.

Yeah, a good source at Popjustice said that the 3rd single and album will be released in January

Oh, the three singles first plan is a little bit risky. Still, I'm sure if Issues is third they can make it work.

If This Is Love up 1 spot to #8 in today's mids, and up to #8 on iTunes too.

they arnt THAT good!

Your S Club fandom worries me, Rob. :P

well clares only 6 months older then frankie!

but ive said all along, scj/8 were a good pop product, their singles were good pop, ironic that itil looks likely to chart lower and sell less then scj's first three singles. (ie the record buying public agree...lol)

But isn't part of your issue with the Saturdays that they're a mere pop product and nothing more? :heehee:

As it is, their music for me - all just opinion obviously - is far, far better than the tacky, dated drivel S Club Juniors ever came out with (or S Club 7 for that matter), and the Saturdays actually write as well.

I love The Saturdays but they can't compete with S Club 7 :o :kink:

I think they'll stick at #08 by Sunday. At worst #09. They'll probably stick around for a while too I reckon.

Bloody silly b!tch ruins everything with her sh!tty faux-lesbian song. :(

jeez... after 41 pages you still miss my point... and then iget complaints from people about repeting myself!!! is it any wonder!!

jark... you arnt stupid.. unlike other 'oldies' here i accept that pop products have their place. what i object to though is the hype.. i also have seen claims of 'the next big thing' fail so many times before. im in the 'anti' camp because i DONT think they are a good pop product and i think many here are getting sucked in with the hype. they are NOTHING special, wether or not you like them.

you might not like what scj/8 did, but the facts are that they had 3 consecutive #2's with their first three releases, and 'one step closer' sold 250k.. now IMHO 'one step closer was a damn good disposable pop song that IF had been recorded by a more 'respectable' group would have been regarded as a 'classic'.. IF itil reaches #2, and sells over 250k copies then ill conceed that by all accounts itil IS a better track.. but you saying it is does not make it a fact! its your opinion.

frankie and rochelle are heading for an embarrassment, with their much hyped, 'adult' track failing to surpass their debut single when they were 13!

But it's not an embarrasment. :/ That's an odd way of thinking, as if the public are going to think 'oh those girls who used to be in S Club haven't charted as highly as they did five years back. What floppy bints!'.

At the end of the day I prefer the music, or what I've heard so far, of the Saturdays because unlike S Club it isn't tacky or cheesy as such. But obviously you're allowed your opinion, and I actually respect it, because unlike the other 'oldies' you reference, you don't put your point across with arrogance or disrespect. Power to you.

dont patronise me :P

oh i think itll only be an embarrassment to the girls, if they have the capacity to think about it!

i know what you mean about scj's music, but imho itil is equaly contrived, in fact i like the fact that scj put out such a cheesy pop track... it has an element reminiscent of 'punk' ethics about it... fuk u we are doing this...lol. scj never pretended to be anything other then what they were... i can deal with that. the shyte-adays though... whilst it might be a more 'polished' product, they are too plastic for me.

but ive said before... if they do take off and become a credible pop outfit then fair do's, i dont care! but i cant see that happening.

The S Club Juniors only scored those big hits as that type of music was doing well at the time. In the current climate there's no way they would have got that high and the songs dated very quickly.

In the current climate it is nigh on impossible for a new 'pure pop' act like these to break through in a big way. I think the debut single going top 10 is a very decent result, but naturally it will rest on how whichever single the album's being released just after does that matters the most.

but you could say that about any type of music, it all has 'its day'.. but has pop really unfashionable now? sugababes and girls aloud are doing very well, but maybe they have more to offer then the shyte-adays. the record company thinks its a good bet, otherwise they wouldnt have created them.

nope... top ten (10-6) will not be a decent result. sales are low, promotion is high, if they fail the top ten that simply isnt good enough and unless they can produce something better with their next two releases then they will not be around in a years time. they HAVE to sell enough units to make them a viable investment, the bottom line is that their fate will be decided by money.
