to me thing outfit stood out alone in the bleak years of 74, 75, being IMHO the only act producing quality pop. the charts were full of teenyboppers, old glam, cheesy pop, and philly :puke2:... cockney rebel though had a short chart career but their 4 hit singles were class (except 'mr raffles' )

'judy teen', 'mr soft' and 'make me smile (come up and see me)' were superb tracks... i bought 'the psychomodo', the album , and i was bitterly disappointed! (in fact this and a few other albums failing to live up to the singles promise put me off albums)

I wasn't a fan, perhaps I was too young at the time to appreciate them. I didn't like SH's voice and still am not too keen on it now.

My favourite song is Freedom's Prisoner, a minor chart hit from 1979 which was a SH solo single.

Was "Black And White" from 1975 any good? It used to be raved about in Record Mirror, long after it just missed the top 50 (it reached the Breakers Chart, got to #3 I think). I can't remember hearing the song, though I probably have.

dont know that one, didnt chart

I liked them a lot, they definately did not fit into any pigeon holed group, like glam, punk,or anything. Mr Soft,Make me smile,Judy Teen were my favourites, but a special mention to Sebastian, which is a great song that was never a single.

Sebastian

Their version of "Here comes the sun" wasn't bad. :)

Mind you I'm not sure about his solo venture into The phantom of the Opera with Sarah Brightman

Sebastian was his best track IMHO.

I saw him a few years ago and he was still a really good pro.

He started with Make Me Smile & finished with Sebastian.

Anyway here's another couple of his oldies but goodies....

Love's A Prima Donna (1976)

Here Comes The Sun (1976)

Nowadays he seems to be more famous for his horses....

I saw him quite a few years ago and like all the tracks mentioned, especially Make Me Smile and my fave, Sebastian.

"Black or white...step on it" (or something like that).

Yeah, good song. Probably too slow to be a hit though. My parents had it on a best of.
