ALRIGHTY, THE FINAL POLL AFTER MUCH DELIBERATION. I've lost like my top 4 entries in this contest to other people lawlz which will all do really well (Bat for Lashes (well I wanted to send Daniel), La Roux LOL, Florence, Kristinia (well didn't really lose this, just didn't get to it in time), but eh, we'll see how I fare with a completely unknown song to the BJSCZ (unless something amazing comes along)

The Isabel song is like literally nowhere on the internet anymore. Anywherez. The one link I got it from was taken down so yay for COMPLETELY UNKNOWN SONGS.

 

I'm actually leaning towards Isabel at the moment I think. Hrm. Sorry for being so confused this contest haha. I love both. But Isabel feels a bit more accessible yknowz?

I prefer the Firefox track; but clearly Isabel is more accessible IMHO in BJSC competition terms.

 

I mean if I wanted to send a track that I love but guarantee a Semi Final elimination then I would have sent this:

But sadly I think too many members are narrow minded against this sort of music to appreciate its brilliance from the best album of 2009 so far IMHO. Hence why I look to send something interesting, but accessible to most players without being that 5 letter word.

I actually don't think it'd finish that poorly, might even make it past the semifinal if it was in the right semi, but it'd be a surefire bottom five finish sadly. :( MPP is easily my album of 2009 thus far....I've even been to the Merriweather Post Pavilion many times before. :o Cool factzz haha.

 

And OMG, new VV Brown leaked. Just now. And I am considering along with the other two, because the chorus is OOMPHH:

There's a difference between people's individual music tastes and being narrow minded. I often love a lot of the alternative songs in BJSC (Heads Will Roll, Solo) but then dislike some of the others (Sleepyhead, Ways To Make It Through The Wall)

 

it's certainly not that I or others are being closed minded to those tracks that we dislike, moreso the fact that we actually don't like them :lol: BJSC is very pop friendly but the core member base on here is pop fans, if you look at similar contests on CHC, you'll find a lot more alternative music, in fact pop is barely represented in similar contests over there due to the vastly different member base

 

for the record though, I quite liked 'My Girls'. Indie and Alternative aren't my genres of choice but when I'm exposed to them (often via BJSC) I more often than not find that I like the songs that I hear ^_^

not a bad song on first listen, although I personally preferred your two unknown choices, in particular Firefox AK which would have been a brilliant, risky but almost certainly rewarding entry from Mdice and a contender for substantial points from FSR Rontvia...VV's a bit 'she's quite good' for me. I always quite like her songs but never love them

 

If subtle electro like Uh Huh Her can win BJSC I don't see why Firefox AK couldn't have come top 5!?! Either way, I've downloaded it and will be charting it at the weekend :heart:

Haven't liked any of the other songs of hers that I've heard, but 'Shark in the Water' is brilliant.

I don't think you should not send her just because you're hosting, if you want to send her, send her! (If not, Firefox AK plz).

I never send an entry with the intention of going top ten (I always try and judge could this song do well / will it do poorly, but ultimately I pick my favorite song after figuring that out). always ignore my first comment on a song, I am notoriously hard to please on first listen, yet easily pleased after a few :lol: having given the Firefox AK song a few more listens, I now love it, but maybe it's a bit too subtle for BJSC actually...I'm not sure it would have won over the 'votes based on one listen' participants of the contest...

 

I agree though, you should always send the song you love the most which is why I held out for the song I wanted for ages rather than going with one of my 'second best' options ^_^ The danger of asking for people's opinions on songs is that you only get a snapshot of their opinion which doesn't allow scope for growing potential/the fact that 15 better songs could be around the corner waiting to be confirmed in the contest, so even if somebody says, 'it's amazing', you could still end up with nul points from them

 

so don't be surprised if VV actually does get Rontvian points after I've given it a few more listens :lol:
