May 16, 200817 yr You mean HMV are trying to shift them....artists don't suddenly come along and say reduce my single, midweek! The stores choose what price to sell them at, not the artists, they have already been paid for the stock! It seems to me like they are not flying off the shelves. And yes we have accounted them at no.2 and 34 (now), hence us saying combined! Alright, calm down! :) It's standard practice for record companies to contact stores midweek (or whenever) and ask them to lower the selling price of singles - in return they will get a certain amount free, etc. I know cos I used to work in one. I think Martin has a physical/download split for the Top 200s and comparitively Ting Tings were doing quite well, at least at the beginning of the week.
May 16, 200817 yr Does anyone know exactly what position The Searchers are in the album charts and how many they have sold? THANKS! Edited May 16, 200817 yr by SophieJB
May 16, 200817 yr Does anyone know exactly what position The Searchers are in the album charts and how many they have sold? Is Bobby Vee in the album charts this week as well please? THANKS! We don't have sales today. Searchers are shooting up day by day - they are 2 positions away from the Top 10 Bobby Vee is in the summary - he is Top 20 - but only 2 positions away from being Top 30
May 16, 200817 yr I don't think The Ting Tings will "hang on", but will be number 1 comfortably. Next week could be a different story with the excellent single by Rihanna being out on physical. Looking at the album chart, we could have half the Top 40 being new entries, and we look certain to have new entries at numbers 1 & 2 on both the singles chart and album chart.
May 16, 200817 yr It was pretty obvious that Neil Diamond would be number one as he's had so much airplay and publicity on radio 2 for the past two weeks!
May 16, 200817 yr Author Sales added to the first post on page 1, also will update later, or someone will to a full update, as top 200s are in for today. Ting Tings seems to be stretching a bit, it will be close in the end

May 16, 200817 yr 'Umbrella' back in the top 75 eh? Is this just because a new Rihanna song is out and people are going "oh, I don't have her #1 song from last year yet"? or is there another reason?
