If that figure was replicated for an English Team you would have 2.5 million people travelling to a cup final!

Of course (the establishment) Margaret Thatcher and the Conservative government the following week at Question Time, were quick to point the blame at the Liverpool supporters for the Hillsborough Disaster.

Is there a thread on this board where Margaret Thatcher doesn't get the blame for something????

Were any of these 100,000 people herded like animals into areas with inadequate facilities,

only 31,000 - herded into small start zones and and forced to do aerobics next to Sponge Bob square pants!!!

200,000 out of 5,000,000 is 4% so, yeah, not far off.

Now, if those 200,000 Rangers fans could f*** off somewhere else permanently.... ;)

Send em down to London, and let's have a pitched battle in a big open space somewhere, away from decent people, between Rangers, Millwall and West Ham scum.....  Hopefully the fukkers will all kill each other..... :P

like it or not we live in the post thatcher era where after 11 years of her government made sweeping changes (not all were bad... just most!) . we live in a time where we still are affected by the changes and impact of the culture we have today.. so yes, many of the social/political ills in todays society can be directly traced back to thatcher.

Exactly... The Tories were also up to their necks in the Hillsborough cover-up and whitewash, they did precisely NOTHING to criticise the police for what happened on the day, and they did nothing to criticise The Scum or the Daily Fascist in the way they reported the tragedy; in fact they gave a bloody HONOUR to the Top Cop in charge of the fukkin' fiasco.... Just how are footie fans in general meant to respond to that one....? What happened that day (and what continues to happen insofar as how the Police generally treat fans) is probably what turned the huge majority of fans against the Police, whether the hooligan element or not...

Thatch was probably the first PM of this country in modern times to quite nakedly use the Police Force against the citizenry of this country also (a trend which Nu Labor is continuing it has to be said..) - examples such as The Miners, The Greenham Common Protestors, New Age Travellers, etc, are the obvious ones; but also let's take into account their actions in areas which were socially and economically disadvantaged - Brixton, Toxteth, Handsworth... Well, I think we know how that ended up...

The Police are there to solve crime and to Protect and Serve the community (and, fair enough, many of them DO do this, especially those who sign up as Community Support Officers..), NOT to control it, or to act in a co-ercive or inappropriate manner.... The Police Force polices our streets with OUR CONSENT, a consent which we as a Democratically-empowered (in theory anyway..) people have every right in the world to revoke at any time.....
