Posted May 17, 200818 yr It is well used to housing thousands of football fans but Carrow Road is undergoing a transformation to turn it into the Greatest Ever concert venue. Norwich City Football Club is gearing up for the “Greatest Ever” football and live music event tomorrow, and behind the scenes staff at the stadium have been busy making sure everything is in place. The event will unveil the Canaries' best all-time XI, as voted for by the fans - but it will also host live musical performances by pop princess Jamelia as well as X Factor finalists Rhydian, Ray Quinn and Ben Mills. A host of former city legends have flown in from all over the world for the event - the most ambitious the club has ever held. On Thursday, the club starting laying specialist tracks over the pitch, which will protect the grass from the equipment and seating. Yesterday work started installing a stage in front of the Barclay stand, flanked by two big screens on either side to show the action on stage and the archive film footage put together by Kevin Piper. Andrew Cullen, the club's director of sales and marketing, has been overseeing the operation. He said: “We've had reunions in the past, but with different squads like the 85 Milk Cup squad. The closest we've had to this before was a Hall of Fame dinner, but we wanted this to be an event which was more accessible to fans than a dinner would be.” Mr Cullen has been organising the arrival of the players, with Kevin Keelan flying in from Florida, Mike Walker coming from Cyprus and Roy McCrohan travelling from America for the event. Most of the big names and pop artists will be staying at the Holiday Inn at Carrow Road. Mr Cullen said: “We've worked very closely with the Holiday Inn and the majority of people coming are staying there. Anyone who has happened to book in for the weekend will be in for a treat if they are Norwich fans.” In addition to performances from Jamelia and the X Factor finalists, music fans will also be able to hear performances by Killer Queen and local indie band Huck. The day will also give fans the chance to say a special farewell to Darren Huckerby, after the winger was released by City boss Glenn Roeder following the club's final game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday. It will be hosted by two of the Canaries' highest profile media fans - former BBC presenter Jake Humphrey and Radio Norfolk's Chris Goreham. The BBC's Jake Humphrey, at 29, is the youngest ever presenter to host the hat-trick of BBC Sport programmes Football Focus, Match of the Day and Final Score. He recently presented the FA Women's Cup Final for BBC One and will be presenting part of the BBC's FA Cup coverage. Pitch seating and Gold Circle tickets have now sold out for the Greatest Ever, but there are seats still available in the Barclay Stand. These can be purchased right up to the start of the event from the Carrow Road ticket office (opening times: Saturday 9am to 2pm; Sunday from 10am) or from the Canary Store, The Mall (opening times: Saturday 9am to 6pm; Sunday from 10.30am), or by calling 0870 444 1902 or going on-line at www.canaries.co.uk/greatestever Tickets in the Barclay cost £25 for Adults, £15 for concessions and £10 for Under 12s. Doors open at 1.30pm with the show finishing at about 7pm.
May 23, 200818 yr Can't believe that in like a month or so it will be 2 years since Something About You  gone so fast
May 28, 200818 yr September 11th, 2006 was its official release date. Jamelia was unhappy about it being released on that date. I think it leaked at the end of July/early August though. Can't wait to hear new stuff. Everytime I'm in town & in Boots or walk past Essential (or whatever it's called), I always stop and stare at the Model.Me poster with Jamelia on. *love
