May 24, 200817 yr Oh I completely, 100% agree that the slaggy female celebrities like Jodie totally bring it on themselves! I was more making the point to reference how even outside of the world of celebrity, the British are sexist knobs who favour men nine times out of ten. :heehee: I actually got quite carried away in my General Studies exam the other day; I think I went quite off-topic in my seething rant about how women are unfairly treated and subject to extreme prejudice.
May 24, 200817 yr I would tend to see things the exact opposite Jark. The types of females we are talking about here are not poor wee exploited types who are struggling to get on in the world against adversity. They are the ones doing the exploiting. They are all mega-rich. They are all totally in control. They know exactly what they are doing. And I guess it's men they are actually exploiting - you lot just don't realise it! :P They are the female success stories of Planet Earth 21st century. It's no longer the female scientists like Marie Curie or the female authors like Daphne du Maurier who are held up as the epitome of female advancement. Oh no. The successful females of today (at least in the mind of tabloid editors and celeb magazines) are the shallow minded single braincelled silicone enhanced airheads with an amazing talent for getting their t*ts out for the lads and an even more amazing talent for self-promotion. Is this where feminism has got us? The Pankhursts must be so proud....

May 24, 200817 yr Unfortunately that's the way life has gone for young girls currently. Why would you want to be a nurse or a teacher for less than £30k a year when you can just spend a few grand on a fake pair of t*ts and a new face and stomach, shag a Premiership footballer for a couple of years and you've already got the lifestyle and money you've always dreamed of!

Is this where feminism has got us? The Pankhursts must be so proud.... Does this actually make them as "in control" as you think though...? The industry that they are feeding is run almost exclusively by men... Objectifying and exploiting yourself for the titilation of men is still hardly an advancement.... The epitome of women who are "in control" are surely the likes of Siouxsie Sioux, Kate Bush, Alison Goldfrapp, Vivienne Westwood, Anita Roddick, who completely did things on their own terms and gained the respect of men and women alike.. I cant respect the likes of Jordan, Heather Mills, Cheryl Cole, Paris Hilton or Jodie Marsh...
May 25, 200817 yr I don't think it's 'Respect' they're after Scott. It's Fame and Money. I doubt 'Respect' is even in their vocabulary.
May 25, 200817 yr THE MOST HATED 1. Heather Mills - 28.3% 2. Amy Winehouse - 11.4% 3. Victoria Beckham - 10.2% 4. Kerry Katona - 10% 5. Simon Cowell - 4.6% THE MOST LOVED 1. Paul McCartney - 14.9% 2. Lewis Hamilton - 11.2% 3. Gary Lineker - 11.2% 4. Simon Cowell - 9.7% 5. David Beckham - 9.4% To comment about the gender it would be interesting to see the most loved females. Would it be the gossip out type of female or the talent and ability type. Also there is little detail but what about ageism. The media tend to focus a lot on the 18-30 age group, especially so for females. I wonder if those are actually the most loved?
May 28, 200817 yr She's a waste of space. I think she's an awful role-model, she looks like an alien who has dropped into earth to invade the GPB minds. :o At least she doesn´t waste too much space... :D :D :D In Victoria´s own words (I remember from an old interview I read), in Britain sucessful businessmen are sucessful businessmen, but sucessful busineswoman are seen as bitches. I think she got the point.
May 28, 200817 yr in Britain sucessful businessmen are sucessful businessmen, but sucessful busineswoman are seen as bitches. I think she got the point. Thing is though, she missed out this part - successful businesswomen are seen as "bitches" in the main, by other women... This is a true fact....
