Fringe" mixes elements of "The X-Files" and Paddy Chayefsky's "Altered States" with what Abrams calls "a slight 'Twilight Zone' vibe." It will focus on brilliant but possibly crazy research scientist Walter Bishop, his estranged son and a female FBI agent who brings them together.

Episodes will explore self-contained mysteries of the paranormal, as well as the relationships between the three leads.

Well this is J.J Abrams (Lost & Alias creators') new show which launches on August 26th in the US on FOX starring Joshua Jackson. There's already a huge advertising campaign starting in the US for this, and FOX are really hyping it up and throwing a lot of money behind it. It looks a strange show, but good at the same time. Because there's so little new shows coming through this year expect a HUGE fight from Sky One, BBC, ITV, Channel 4/E4 to win the UK broadcasting rights for this.

Well everything JJ Abrams has done has been amazing, and i reckon this will be amazing to.

I hope whatever UK station gets this puts it on soon after the US, like SKY ONE with Lost.

Is it me or was that Abaddon guy from Lost in that trailor, is it the same character? is him being in Lost a set up for this?

There'll be a huge bidding war for it. Is a show that Sky One would go for, but I wouldn't be suprised if the BBC went for it too. Looks the sort of show that'd fit onto BBC 2 quite neatly.

Lance Reddick is the same actor who plays Abaddon in Lost, but his character in this is completely differnet. I'd imagine that if Lost want him back though, then they'd easily be able to get him to film some scenes however.

I hope Sky doesn't take it

Although i've heard they're launching a think like iPlayer, called Sky Player ( - it actually is, no joke) so I;m hoping I'll be able to catch up on Lost and then this...if it goes on Sky.

To be honest even though it is slightly more troubling for me to watch it on Sky, i would perfer it on Sky becuase BBC always take ages to show US shows but Sky get right to the point, like with Lost where sometimes it has been a matter of four days between episodes of Lost in the US being shown in the UK, meaning you also have times to discuss on the internet with out accidently spoiling it for you.

If Sky get it then who knows. Only problem with showing it early is that the UK aren't used to shows taking breaks mid-way through the series and Fringe is likely to do that a lot seeing as it starts at the end of August. I'm not sure though, only thing that is certain is all of the major broadcasting channels will want to win the right to this i'd have thought.

It's much easy just to watch the shows on the internet straight away when they air in the US until waiting for them to air in the UK though.

I would just watch it through means of the internet but i much perfer to watch it at better quality on TV. I also dont want to wait :(

Yeah I mean I have Sky One and everything, but I just can't be bothered to wait until they come onto TV. You'd be suprised at how many good quality links you can find on the internet, all of the shows I watch online, I normally watch in high quality.

I'm gonna try and watch the Pilot sometime soon. Hopefully before it all gets taken down!

All the reviews i've read of this so far have been top notch too.

I have now found megaupload links and am downloading now :D
I have watched it now, its no Lost but it's pretty good definatly worth checking out, really sped up in the last 20 minutes or so.

But instead of being seasons it could show on ITV as series and so 1 season could be promoed over here as two series - wouldnt be too much of a trouble to get round the gap - esp since they can lose an episode of pushing daisies -

and i guess it could easily replace that in that sat sked and work better or in the Six Degrees slot and endlessly on itv2

Sky One have the rights to show it now, what a suprise,

Sky1 has acquired the UK rights to new JJ Abrams drama Fringe.

The first major deal from this year's LA Screenings gives the channel the exclusive linear TV rights to the show, which stars Joshua Jackson and centres around an outbreak of paranormal phenomena.

"We're delighted to have secured the rights to Fringe, which we believe will thrill a new generation of viewers much like The X-Files did 15 years ago," said David Smyth, head of acquisitions at Sky1. "Together with Lost, we’re honoured to be the home for J.J. Abrams’ shows here in the UK!"

Fringe will air as part of Sky1's new-look Autumn lineup. It premieres on September 7 in the US on Fox.

from Digital Spy.

I think this show is easily the most promising new US show this year. I definately look forward to checking it out especially as it is said to be in the same vein as the amazing X Files :D

Also look out for the new Joss Whedon show in the new year 'Dollhouse' staring Eliza Dushku <333

Yeah Dollhouse looks good too. I'm very sure it'll do a Sarah Connor Chronicles in the US and have excellent ratings and probably be picked up for a full season next year. I'm suprised none of the broadcasters have picked up the show yet (or maybe they have?). I'm thinking maybe Virgin 1 will go for it though.

took no notcie of my last reply in this thread then

I can't believe Sky 1 have got it, I was hoping BBC2 nab it, I've read some good reviews about the Fringe, I guess I have to wait for the DVDs, I can't watch episodes online as they keep on buffering

I guess the UK will wait to see how it does over in the states before making a decision.

And I meant Dollhouse. Sorry I've ruined this thread with talk of another TV show. *zips it*
