May 21, 200817 yr are this centuaries entries by us really that much worse?.. ok andy abrahams IS,, ..And Jemini, Daz Sampson, the stubbly bloke with the guitar...... -_- "Politics" is just an excuse mate... Our songs have been utter sh!te.... If we put in an act of the calibre of The Beatles, Kate Bush or Morrissey and still came in the bottom five, then you can talk about Politics... But in the main, the music has been utter garbage.... And this year is no different...
May 24, 200817 yr I heard this song which is reprenting UK last night... All I can say is.....Oh dear...... Possibly even worse than the insufferable tosser Daz Sampson and his "Coolio-lite" rap bollocks..... NULL POINTES from me..... And I'm sorry, but was that Irish "singing Turkey puppet" entry meant to be a joke...? Dear LORD, how the Irish have fallen from grace..... Reminded me of that sh!tty Roland Rat thing in the 80s.... ...Or, worse yet, Crazy Frog........ If the Western European nations aint gonna take this competition seriously and churn out totally amatuerish sh!t, how can they complain about the apparent Central and Eastern European dominance of the event....? They'd might as well have had "My Lovely Horse" (the Neil Hannon version) as their song. It might've actually gone through..... This whole "turkey" thing was just an embarrassment to Ireland... Yeah they had the My Lovely Horse episode on More 4 the other night - its gonna go on my Eurovision DVD-R with the final however as for the Crazy Frog - actually a couple of years ago i thought it would be fun to see the Crazy Frog in for Germany or Sweden - just to see how they could do it on stage...tho obv the Turkey got there first. (btw Axel F and Popcorn by the Crazy Frog actually an improvement on the originals tbh give an award to those Bass bumpers just for that  )
May 24, 200817 yr The Uk needs to stop sending all these nice luke-warm entries. Maybe a solo female singer with a dam good voice? As it seems it's normally the females that stand out the most in Eurovision. (From my point of view anyway).
May 24, 200817 yr I think that's really disappointing, Terry all but announced he would not be doing the competition any more after tonight which would be a great loss to the competition. I can't see the UK withdrawing for another a year or two but it certainly looks to be on the cards which is extremely sad. Thanks Terry! You built Eurovision, I'm just sorry it has lost all credibility tonight
May 24, 200817 yr Author Yeah Wogan won't be doing it next year. He's a bit disillusional though in thinking that we had any sort of chance tonight...
May 24, 200817 yr Why would the UK withdraw just because Wogan won't commentate? It sounds a bit drastic...
May 24, 200817 yr Yeah Wogan won't be doing it next year. He's a bit disillusional though in thinking that we had any sort of chance tonight... As our correspondant, he sort of has to be irrespective of what he actually thinks of our chances. Unless something radical happens, I think Terry will be putting the ESC to bed... a real shame. Who will take over him though? Dermot O'Leary?
May 24, 200817 yr It's not just Wogan, but many Eurovision fans (I for one) who are just fed up with the lack of any sort of competition. Why should we pay for a Russian lovefest?
May 24, 200817 yr 50% of Eurovision fans on here could do a better job than arsehole Terry. He really showed tonight he has limited understanding of the competition and probably gets all his info and opinions from The Sun!
May 24, 200817 yr Wogan really annoyed me during one countries votes where it clearly showed russia and greece had been given something like 4 and 6 points respectivly the person was about to say 12 points to and he said russia or greece and i was like how dumb are you. I am pretty sure this happend more than once. Him also commenting on what the presenters had said by saying he had just said that, i don't think they can hear you terry, i wish i couldn't
May 24, 200817 yr Author It's not just Wogan, but many Eurovision fans (I for one) who are just fed up with the lack of any sort of competition. Why should we pay for a Russian lovefest? A Russian lovefest? It was in Serbia tonight, remember. Nowhere near Russia!
May 24, 200817 yr It's not just Wogan, but many Eurovision fans (I for one) who are just fed up with the lack of any sort of competition. Why should we pay for a Russian lovefest? I think Terry should give up, his commentary has become to negative and his lack of European knowledge of musical taste makes him come across as a grumpy old man. He's not he's a great DJ but radio is where he belongs not in some foreign place. I also think the UK should qualify through the semi-finals. It's quite a disadvantage to be directly in the final and whether we pay or not, entry through the semi-final is an easier path to winning.
May 24, 200817 yr In fairness, Terry seems wise when he 'predicts' that the 12 will go to Russia, but in actual fact it's pretty obvious that they'll go to them when everyone else in the top 10 already has points!! I agree most people her could give a completely unbiased view, unlike Godlike Wogan. Any other less lauded presenter would be fired for statements such as 'as you can see, political voting is out in force' as if it's a fact, when actually it's nothing more than a theory. One which a lot of people are led to believe, but a theory & opinion none the less. As Terry hinted he wouldn't be commentating next year, all I saw is BRING IT ON!! Good riddance, maybe we'll get someone who knows what they're talking about.
May 24, 200817 yr Terry represents the UK the same way the majority of Brits watch it. A bit of kitsh fun which we have no chance of winning and that's why he's loved all over - me included. I always hear 'I only watch Eurovision for Terry'. For other countries however, it's a much bigger deal and is taken deadly seriously.

I always hear 'I only watch Eurovision for Terry'. For other countries however, it's a much bigger deal and is taken deadly seriously. Which is exactly why we flop every year, summed up in one post. You can't watch it 'for a bit of fun', then turn around and complain that we lose.

May 24, 200817 yr Author We can have it both ways. Watch the Eurovision 1997 for complete evidence. You've got Wogan poking fun at songs and getting riled up about Greece giving Cyprus 12 points, but he's also crazily enthusiastic about the voting, and expressing his love for the juries, and we're doing well. It wouldn't be impossible to send another act as good as Katrina & the Waves you know...
May 24, 200817 yr It wouldn't be impossible to send another act as good as Katrina & the Waves you know... True Dat!!
May 24, 200817 yr The UK, Germany, France, & Spain give the most Cash to the ESC. That is why all 4 of us are allowed to enter every Year - even when we finish last. I would like the UK to leave the Contest - and the other 3 Countries too. Let those Countries that want it pay more for it - or let the whole out-dated heap of c**p collapse - AMEN!
