ahahahhahahahaha

it's why Anderson was wanted by nearly every team in Europe

Modric WOULDN'T have gone to Tottenham if anyone decent wanted him

Even so, his stats last season proved he's still yet to have any kind of end product, Modric doesn't have to do much to better it. He is good player, I'm not denying that, but he's certainly not as good as he's made out to be. He's still very much only 'potential'... Modric is older and has far more experience internationally. The way he played at the Euros and completely dominated the game at Wembley last year would indicate that only a fool would consider him to be in any way poor.

As for your second part, surely that would be the case for everyone? By your criteria Berbatov can't be that good a player as he 'only' went to Spurs....

Berbatov was going to join United, but we had van Nistelrooy, and Berbatov has since said he didn't think he'd get in our team

We sold Ruud the same month

and mate, Ramos wouldn't think twice about who he'd rather have out of Andershow and Modric, trust me

Top 2 are untouchable atm, but I don't think the gulf between Arsenal / Liverpool and us is that big

Arsenal will badly miss Hleb, he was one of their big creative forces and much depends on Adebayor's attitude after he was denied his dream move

I would say us and Liverpool are quite evenly matched on paper too with the exception of Torres and of course Gerrard, Torres was amazing last season but if he has a not quite as good season in 2008 or gets injured or something then I really don't think the gulf to us is that big

1. Gomes

2. Hutton

3. Bale

4. King

5. Woodgate

6. Jenas

7. Dos Santos

8. Modric

9. Berbatov / Replacement

10. Keane / Replacement

11. Lennon / Bentley (very close to signing)

That is a decent line up if they are all fit and if you match that up on paper with Liverpool and Arsenal the gulf ain't that big mate

Well, I think Arsenal will have their replacements sewn up within due course really. I think Nasri is a replacement for Hleb. They just need a central midfielder or two really, and they'll be decent. I don't think they'll be as good as they were last season, but they won't be far away from the title.

Your first XI looks pretty good I must say, but still, Dos Santos, Modic, Gomes (and then two attacking replacements for Berbatov and Keane) they're all new players. No matter how good they were before in a different league, there's no telling whether they'll before to the best of their ability. I think it will take Modric a while, but i'm sure he'll be a good buy. Not so sure about Dos Santos though... good player, but he needs a manager who is gonna put him in his place (he was a bit too fond of the nightlife in Barca apparently... not good news if he's moved to London).

I still think Liverpool and Arsenal are a way ahead of Spurs yet. Out first XIs are on par with Chelsea and Man Utd just about, it's just we don't have the depth in quality, so instead we replace our top players with absolute shyte, or youngsters. The only main downside to Liverpool at the moment is they have no decent wingers, but with the way things are shaping up, I don't expect that to change either. It's a fault in our team, but I guess that's why Rafa's bought two very attacking fullbacks, and is why he normally likes to play with two defensive midfielders.

Our first 11 is the best in Europe.

Liverpool still have positions they need to change, Pennant's not good enough for a top 10 team, really...

Pennant's never been a starter for us, and he never will be purely for the fact he was awful. This is the one problem I have about Rafa, he missed out on Simao, and then payed over the odds for some $h!t English player who was made to look like God's gift in a poor Birmingham team.

I think our squad is quite decent though. The only position that i'm very unconfident about is the right back, we've signed Degen who well, doesn't exactly brim me with confidence. He's extremely good at going forward, but his defensive play looks pretty poor, but hopefully he is a stop-gap signing. I think a few of Liverpool's youngsters might see an introduction to the first team this season too with the new 7 subs, which should benefit the Top 4 clubs greatly really.

Isn't Arbeloa a right-back?

Yes. He's good, but he's not top draw. Not attacking enough, if we're not gonna play with any out and out right winger.

If the newspaper reports are led to believed too, then he might be off back to Spain because of family problems. Finnan and Degen at right-back for the season would leave me brimming with confidence, I suppose Carra can play their too though.

Yeah

Hyppia still at you lot?

Yep. I'm so glad at that too, he's never been one of the fastest players, but he's such a good passer of the ball and a really good tackler. I highly doubt he'll play much this season baring injuries to the other three centre backs, but i'm pretty sure if he completes this year, he'll have been at the club 10 years which is some feat nowadays, especially for a foreign player.

Spurs' team wouldn't be too bad next season if they actually had a holding midfielder in Craig's team..

The other day, Craig said to me 'if United sell Ronaldo, Spurs will have the most dangerous attack'

AHAHAHAH

the man's a WUM

Well if Liverpool get Keane then they'd certainly be an attacking force to be reckoned with next season..

The big four are still the best and if anyone else looks as though they're gonna be threatening it'll be Villa (especially with Young's performance yesterday) or Portsmouth! Spurs need to be consistant which they've failed to do so in the past three seasons (especially the last) in order to break into the top 4.

I think the English teams will do better in the UEFA this season anyway.

The league will return to Stamford Bridge this season...

I waiting to see who we can bring in otherwise I'm leaning that way as well this season...
