July 27, 200816 yr Well if Liverpool get Keane then they'd certainly be an attacking force to be reckoned with next season.. The big four are still the best and if anyone else looks as though they're gonna be threatening it'll be Villa (especially with Young's performance yesterday) or Portsmouth! Spurs need to be consistant which they've failed to do so in the past three seasons (especially the last) in order to break into the top 4. I think the English teams will do better in the UEFA this season anyway. You see I don't think Villa will be anywhere near the Top 4 this season. Especially if they get into the UEFA Cup. They've a good squad, but the problem with them is they have a too small squad. I know that can be considered a good thing in some cases, but if they pick up a few injuries then they're screwed. They need two full backs asap. I can't see Barry wanting to play five months as a left back somehow. As for the title this season, I think it will be very close this year yet again between the Top 4, but I think Chelsea will win the league this season. I just have that feeling they will, but, there's still over a month before the transfer window closes, so it'll be interesting to see who comes and goes.
July 28, 200816 yr The other day, Craig said to me 'if United sell Ronaldo, Spurs will have the most dangerous attack' AHAHAHAH the man's a WUM Last season despite having a midfield packed with the likes of Hudd, Zokora, Malbranque, Tianio, Jenas, Gilberto we were if I recall correctly the 3rd highest scorers in the Premiership With Modric and Dos Santos having arrived, Bale fit again, Bentley on the verge of signing, Arshavin on his way if the rumours tonight are true, we will be a much stronger attacking force next season
July 28, 200816 yr GK - Gomes RB - Hutton LB - Bale CB - King CB - Woodgate CM - tbc (we have bid 15.9m for Veloso according to a Spurs ITK) LM - Dos Santos RM - Bentley AM - Modric AM - Arshavin (not signed yet but ITK reports tonight say he has agreed terms) CF - Pavluychenko/Milito That team would be seriously challenging for 3rd or 4th
July 28, 200816 yr http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/artic...oliverpool.html The Club can announce that it has reached agreement with Liverpool FC for the transfer of Robbie Keane. Speaking on the announcement of the transfer, Chairman Daniel Levy said: "I was incredibly disappointed when I first heard, not only that Liverpool had been working behind the scenes to bring Robbie to Anfield, but that Robbie himself wanted to go and he submitted a transfer request to this effect. "I have already made my opinion clear on the nature of this transaction. I don't regard it as a transfer deal - that is something which happens between two clubs when they both agree to trade - this is very much an enforced sale, for which we have agreed a sum of £19m as compensation plus a potential further £1.3m in additional compensation." Liverpool FC has also acknowledged that the way its website reported comments of its manager, which were widely covered by the media, was inappropriate and in light of that acknowledgement has apologised and agreed to make a donation to our Club's main charity, the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. Tottenham Hotspur has therefore agreed not to pursue its official complaint to the Premier League.
July 28, 200816 yr ahaha, you're deluded, CT. nothing new there, though!! £50m transfer fund at start of summer £18.9, 4.5, 9m spent £17.6m left £19m for Keane, 9m for Chimbo and Teemu £45m left in the kitty before sale of Berbs Right now we are probably the most cash rich team in Europe in terms of available funds, money talks in football !
July 28, 200816 yr Author Wtf? we still have the strongest squad, by far it's coming back home, again Last season Chelsea finished two points behind playing boring, defensive football and had Cech, Terry Carvalho, Ballack, Essien, Lampard, Kalou and Drogba all have lengthy periods out. This season they look they're going to play attacking football in a new formation that suits them and now have a decent right back, which was previously their weak link by some distance!
July 28, 200816 yr Keane has signed for Spurs on a four year deal :D Watching the build-up for Norwich v Spurs and Berbatov has made the trip! EDIT: He's not in the squad tonight though! Gunter seems to be having #2 this season it seems!! Edited July 28, 200816 yr by Grandwicky

Very true. But as a result every player Spurs will go for will have their price put up by £2/3 million per player. Plus until Spurs can break through the ECL qualifying Top 4 Premiership monopoly then how many players of that calibre will want to play at White Hart Lane instead of the likes of The Emirates Stadium or Old Trafford? As a Liverpool supporter I must say I's rather have kept Crouch & bought Barry from Aston Villa, but we'll see what happens next season...

True there but I think with the extra money that we will up our wage policy to try and attract the top players A lot of players for instance such as David Villa don't have many if any major teams with a vacancy to acccomodate him so us offering massive wages would be a good option, not saying we will get Villa but he was just an example
July 28, 200816 yr Spurs will never be a top 4 team, FACT. I am so confident that we will make the CL inside 3 years that I am prepared to bet with you the sum of £100 on the fact we do, up for it ? there are enough witnesses in this thread to prove I offered £100 wager on Spurs not making CL, up for it ?

July 28, 200816 yr I'll even go as far as saying City, Villa AND Pompey finish above you With so many new players having to gel in 2008 my expectations are that we will get probably 7th next season and maybe win a cup, having as many as 7 new players gelling will take time so I am expecting a poor first 1/3 of the season but I fully believe season after next we will qualify for the CL
