Sorry, but could you tone it down a bit, I've had a complaint about some of your comments and don't wish to close this thread as I think it has a lot of life in it yet, considering the song is set to be one of the year's biggest hits. You are obviously quite entitled to your opinion but please don't tell other people how they should think and feel. We are all aware of the working's of the music industry but if we wish to enjoy a song, even if it is a 'guilty pleasure' we are quite entitled to do so, just as you are entitled to dislike the song. I resent your above comment, and in fact I'd challenge you to find any artist that isn't in the industry for money, amongst other reasons. If you continue to swear and be rude to other members, you will most likely be banned by one of the mods somewhere down the line, so for your sake, be a little bit more tactful with how you express your opinions please.

I fail to see the point in bringing up Britney Spears in this matter. And if you must bring her up atleast get the spelling right. And if you don't like the song just say that and get on with your life, don't diss other members tastes because they are not the same as yours. And you obviously know nothing about Katy Perry because she has numerous writing credits on the album, including for 'I Kissed A Girl', and she plays guitar, not to mention having involvement with the albums production...which she has been working on for 3 years. Yeah, so also get your facts straight before you come charging into an offensive argument.

 

ANYWAYS, the album is great...especially 'One Of The Boys', 'Hot N' Cold', 'Ur So Gay' and 'I Think I'm Ready'.

can you appreciate some of the better manufactured pop music? or do you dislike all of it? do you appreciate the pop genre and can distinguish objectively between what is "good" or "bad" or is your opinion subjective only? as in your personal taste.

 

can you not see manufactured song like britney spears "baby one more time" and kylie "can't get you out of my head" are some of the best examples of pop music that music critics have praised aswell as the wider public?

 

i think if you or anyone only likes or listens to one musical genre then your view is maybe narrow and biased against another musical genre and the better tracks within it. of course there is bad pop music that is generic, cheesy, bland and forgettable, i can give you a long list. but this song is clearly none of these if you look at it objectively. this song has one of the qualities you look for in great pop song being "distinctive".

This song has really grown on me recently, wasnt really a fan to start with.

I've never actually thought of it being a contender for #1 over in the Uk, but recently I've noticed it getting more and more airplay on tv, so who knows?

Number one in the US! I think it will be number one in the UK for atleast 2 weeks.
