Posted May 26, 200817 yr I saw that they had a new album coming out for free download from their website and so I thought I might as well download it...and i absolutely LOVE it! I was just wondering which ones of their albums do you think are the best/ do you think I should buy/ download? I don't know if many of you like them, but I know that Chris definitely does  So any suggestions?
May 26, 200817 yr The Downward Spiral I would have thought, definitely. That album makes for an extraordinary listen. The only other album I own is With Teeth and it's okay I guess.

My favourite album from them is 'The Downward Spiral' which is proberly there most successful, it also features my favourite song ever, 'Hurt' which is also famoussly covered by Johnny Cash. It also has other excellent songs such as 'March of the Pigs'. I also suggest 'Year Zero', a concept album released last year. really i suggest all there albums, the first is also astonishing, 'Pretty Hate Machine' which has one of there best tracks, 'Head Like A Hole'. I reccomend all there albums, check out these tracks, 'Starf***ers Inc', 'The Hand That Feeds' 'Terrible Lie', 'Sin', 'Wish', 'La Mer', 'The Day The Whole World Went Away', 'Closer'. also the instrumental album 'Ghosts I-IV' you can get 'Ghosts I' for free at http://ghosts.nin.com/main/order_options If you want the full experience though see them live, definatly the best live band ive seen by far (and ive seen quite alot of bands) This video is of 'Hurt' live at Reading Festival last year, its a breathtaking performance, and luck for me i was there :D IwEJa_p5W5Q you should also check out the other videos live at Reading (theres only about 4 more songs that got recorded, all on youtube). Hopefully they will tour the UK later this year or next year, love to see them live again :) Trent Reznor is a legend!
May 26, 200817 yr Frankly, my own favourite NIN album is always gonna be "Pretty Hate Machine"... The first one, and I still reckon is the best speaking as a fan of NIN since about 1990.. "The Downward Spiral" has great stuff on it for sure, but it also has some absolute c**p on it as well (I've grown to utterly detest tracks like "Closer" and "Pig", too gimmicky and overplayed..). "Pretty Hate Machine" set a benchmark for Industrial/Rock music, it's consistent and brilliantly realised with a near-perfect collection of songs.. It's probably Trent's most personal album in many ways... Whatever your taste in music, "Pretty Hate Machine" should really be in anyone's collection...
May 27, 200817 yr Author Thanks for all your replies! I suppose I might as well download them all then :kink: I know the Johnny Cash version of Hurt...I didn't know it was a cover of NIN! And thanks for the advice Chris...watching videos on youtube right now...# I just love finding bands that have been around for a while but I've never really heard that much - the same happened with placebo a couple of years ago and now the have to be in my top 5 favourite bands ever :o Edited May 27, 200817 yr by CremeEgg25

I wouldnt get that yet - unless you can find it very cheaply - as i would see if it will get re-issued as a deluxe package in the next few months - as i think thats the kind of album that would get remastered and re-issued with loads of extra stuff esp if NIN are true independent now...well thats what I'm hoping anyway (though you never know what I'll come back from the £3 and under shop  ) I also suggest 'Year Zero', a concept alum released last year. I wanted that - I found that on CD-WOW for £3 and ordered it - however i guess they couldnt get the order and so cancelled it - arse!!!
May 27, 200817 yr I wanted that - I found that on CD-WOW for £3 and ordered it - however i guess they couldnt get the order and so cancelled it - arse!!! the disc itself is even worth more than £3, let alone the music. seriously, the disc is so cool, if the disc gets hot its whit but if its cold its black. Thermodiscs FTW!

Trent doesn't actually own the rights to it... So, dont be expecting a "deluxe remastered edition" of PHM, it would've happened about the same time as it happened with "Downward Spiral", or in 2004 (for the 15th anniversary of the release..) if it was going to... Of course, Trent might be considering something HUGE for '09, officially the 20th anniversary of the release of the debut.... ..The bloke pretty much does what he feels like...
