Fever was mainly the first and only time Kylie had success over there.

actually it's not her first success...

she had 3 top 40 hits in the 80's over there including one top 3 ('The locomotion')

and her debut album sold more than 0.5 million copies there...

so she scored some success in the 80's in the US.

At best her success in the U.S has been mediocre but I'm sure being a household name in Europe and the rest of the world makes up for that!
True. The Fever era must be her most successful in the USA.

Kylie's career hasn't been that successful in the USA, but her most successful era has to be the Fever era.

-_-

Kylie will probably never be big in the states because she isnt an urban artist and her style of music doesnt fit in easily to the charts there.
I think Kylie should just focus more on Europe, Australia etc, other than the USA.

you're right... Kylie needs to go urban in order to become succesful in the US...

she almost tried that with Body Language but she needed to collaborate with US urban acts such as Lil'Wayne, Kanye West etc.... in order to hit it big there.... that's the only way i suppose...

or she has to perform on American Idol's final!!!

Edited by Big Mistake

its the biggest show on American tv so I would say yeah.Would def get her at least top 50
Sigh its such a shame she isnt that big here  although a lot of my friends do like her a lot. I'm really happy I at least get to see her on tour this october.

if she did perfrom on american idol would it really guarantee her a hit though?

yes it does, at least a top 20 hit.....

  • 2 weeks later...

If she had released 'Your Disco Needs You' she would be an ICON.

re-vamped with 2 added mistakes....

-Promoting 'Get outta my way' as the lead single from 'Aphrodite' instead of 'All the Lovers'

'All the Lovers' was obviously to be Kylie's biggest international hit since 'Can't get you out of my head', it went top 10 in many european countries, yet smart Parlophone decided to choose 90's retro-disco sounding 'Get outta my way' for her US campaign... the result: a no show on the BB Hot 100 and zero airplay....

-Not promoting 'TimeBomb' in the US Despite it being her biggest download success in the US ever

The 'TimeBomb' campaign started really well, with it being released to radio, itunes & TV at the same time, and the US seemed to catch up with the Kylie fever :'Timebomb' reached number 35 on iTunes US within 48 hours of its release, and the americans seemed to like the song, yet again, Kylie didn't do the effort of promoting in the US and decided to appear at D-rated TV programms such as the Fashion Police where she dissed Madonna in order to grab headlines...

Result: TimeBomb dropped in the itunes US charts like a rock and was immediatly forgotten...

ATL was the lead single in the US wasn't it?

not really, it wasn't promoted anywhere in the US while 'Get outta my way' was....

That doesn't mean it wasn't a single. She promoted ATL if I remember correctly.

no, she only performed 'Get outta my way'...

Everyone here has heard of her. She is known... she is almost looked as being the indie Madonna, here... if that makes sense. lol.
Get outta my way was mistake full stop, having it as the lead promoted single in america was just a bigger mistake. At the time i always thought get outta my way was hugely over rated by fans and couldnt understand the fuss and i was so disappointed when it was picked as the 2nd UK single as i truly believe it killed aphrodite. There were far better choices on the album that i feel would have sold the album further. In stark contrast all the lovers was a fantastic lead single, sold pretty well and had a decent chart run and got the album off to a great start, for me all the lovers will always be among my fave kylie singles ever as i still adore it to this day.
