June 5, 200817 yr Anyway, a couple of generic predictions from me. Atleast two of the bigger 6 teams to crash out in the groups (obviosuly one from Group C). Greece to go through and knock out France in the QFs again. Germany to win. Spain to continue to be continued underachievers. Ronaldo sent off for diving. Edited June 5, 200817 yr by RabbitFurCoat
June 5, 200817 yr I may aswell have a go at the old precictions. >Benzema and Huntelaar to both impress, meaning both get linked massively to the Prem. Huntelaar making a move to one of the big four. >Quaresma to outshine Ronaldo in the Portugal set-up. >Italy out in the first round. >Ciprian Marica to be the standout Romania player depsite them going out in the first round. >Samir Nasri/Luca Modric to do nothing. >Henrik Larsson to still be in the Sweden team in 50 years time despite the Swede's making a big deal out of this being his last proper International Tournament.
June 6, 200817 yr Italy, Germany and Czech rep will go all the way to the semi finals. The 4th team will be either The Netherlands or... Russia I hope Greece procedes to top-8 although i dont see it coming

June 7, 200817 yr Match Previews for both games: Switzerland vs Czech Republic Switzerland will get Euro 2008 underway against Czech Republic on Saturday, with the co-hosts looking for a first finals win. In two previous European Championship appearances, the Swiss have failed to win in six matches, but will be hoping home advantage will lead to an opening game three points. Coach Kobi Kuhn is retiring after the tournament and will be looking for a positive start from his squad. Kuhn does have two main selection decisions ahead of the opening fixture in Basel as he considers starts for Patrick Muller and Tranquillo Barnetta. Barnetta boost Experienced defender Muller has only recently returned to fitness from a long-term knee injury and looked rusty in last week's friendly against Liechtenstein. Muller is likely to be given the chance to decide his own level of fitness and, if he does start, will partner Arsenal centre-half Philippe Senderos. Influential playmaker Barnetta has shaken off an ankle injury picked up in a training ground tangle with Gelson Fernandes and is fit to start. He could replace Johan Vonlanthen on the left-hand side of midfield, while the national team's top scorer Alexandre Frei will lead the line. The Czechs head into the tournament without the injured Tomas Rosicky and also concerns about the form of Milan Baros, who was top scorer at Euro 2004. Ujfalusi concern Baros will hope to partner Jan Koller up front, while Libor Sionko will also be looking to start after scoring twice against Scotland last week. Zdenek Pospech will miss the match due to a virus, although Zdenek Grygera was expected to start at right-back in any case. Influential defender Tomas Ujfalusi is a worry for the Czechs due to an abdominal problem, but Marek Jankulovski is fit after a knee injury. Czech keeper Petr Cech is expecting a stern test from the Swiss, but is hoping Karel Bruckner's side have been fully prepared. "I think the Swiss are very dangerous, and know how to play well together," said Cech. "They create a lot of chances down the left side with Barnetta and [Marco]Streller, and count on Frei to score goals. "The players on the flanks can attack and provide dangerous crosses. We already know a lot about them, and we'll see how well we have prepared in the game." Portugal vs Turkey Portugal get their Euro 2008 campaign underway against Turkey in Group A on Saturday night. Luiz Felipe Scolari men are among the favourites to win the tournament in Austria and Switzerland and they will be hoping to go one better than Euro 2004 after losing in the final to Greece on home soil. The Geneva tie will be the third meeting between the two countries in the European Championship with Portugal coming out on top in the two previous clashes. Much of the pre-match focus will be centre around Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo as speculation over his future at Manchester United continues to rumble on. Ronaldo, who will be hoping to enhance his chances of winning the World Player of the Year award with a good showing in Austria and Switzerland, is set to shake off a slight ankle knock to take his place in the starting XI. Nuno Gomes is expected to start in attack following the retirement of Pauleta. Chelsea new boy Jose Bosingwa is fit to start at right-back after recovering from a muscle strain meaning Miguel will start on the bench. Scolari must decide who will partner Ricardo Carvalho in defence with Pepe and Bruno Alves battling to win the nod. Turkey are waiting on the fitness of midfielder Hamit Altintop as he is struggling to shake off a muscle problem. Middlesbrough striker Tuncay has recovered from a minor back problem to be fit for the game, but it is unsure if he will start the clash. Villarreal forward Nihat Kahveci will lead the attack for Turkey with coach Fatih Terim still to decide who will partner the striker. Newcastle midfielder Emre could start in midfield for Turkey despite struggling for fitness all season on Tyneside.
June 7, 200817 yr I think Czech Republic will win this, they are one of the favourites to win it this year. And Portugal will win tonight.

June 7, 200817 yr Swiss played well, to be honest I knew the Czechs would pull it out of the bag, good opening match.
June 7, 200817 yr I thought Switzerland were a bit unlucky. Neither team really deserved the win though... Switzerland were so wasteful and Czech Republic didn't create much in the final 3rd of the pitch. If i've learnt something from watching that game, it's that i'd be very suprised if the Czechs went ahead and won the tournament...
June 7, 200817 yr I stopped watching after the first half. But ill defo be watching the portugal match ^_^
