Posted June 2, 200817 yr I've posted this already in the TT thread ... but I've put it here as well - as its interesting to look at some of the other things that were polled on, i.e. favourite decades, bands people wish would make a comeback (although one suspects that the Beatles is a bit out of the question), favourite fashions, etc. Good article by the Yorkshire Evening Post. http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/show...ings.4142508.jp Norma
June 2, 200817 yr The band I always wished would do a comeback because it all ended too soon and too messily answered my pop prayers this year - Yazoo... Reconnected for 2008. I'd love one final Pink Floyd album with Waters and Gilmour together again, too. Also, ABBA could definitely do a one-off album...but I admire them hugely for not succumbing to the temptation.
June 2, 200817 yr Shell suits never went away, pop up to Glasgow and you will see them everywhere
June 3, 200817 yr The bands that I have long wished that would make a comeback already did.... Pixies in '04 - Great live shows, but that fifth Pixies album never materialised.... :( Portishead in '08 - Gave us probably the best album of 2008, if not the decade.... My Bloody Valentine '08 - A national tour coming up soon, but tentative details of that third album of theirs is still under wraps.... Jesus and Mary Chain '07 - Hopefully the Reid brothers will refrain from beating each other up long enough to do another album.... The Killing Joke '03 - They never really went away, just took a hell of a long break and came back with two brilliant albums so far in the 00s... Despite the death of Raven, they're about to tour again....
June 3, 200817 yr Guns N Roses recording material in the style of 'Appetite For Destruction'-era with the ORIGINAL line-up... Wishing for too much maybe?
June 3, 200817 yr Just to think about fashion - surprising how things come back with a different name and people think they are a completely new style. Take Boot-Cut jeans. in the 70s they were called Flares and back in the 60s they were called Bell-Bottoms. Low-rise jeans and trousers. Back in the 60s were called Hipsters. What will come back next? Men's cuban heel Chelsea boots & shoes - and with what name?

June 3, 200817 yr Author What about 'penny round' collars and 'kipper' ties! Kaftans and cheesecloth shirts! Chopper bikes and space hoppers! Norma
June 4, 200817 yr The two band's I'd like to see properly comeback with a new album & tour are Pink Floyd with both Dave & Roger in the classic Dark Side Of The Moon line up, and Led Zeppelin with John Bonham's son on drums. In all seriousness the best comeback is Take That. Bar Back For Good I never liked them, but I did not like boybands period. But their comeback album was shockingly good with a very contemporary sound and great songs to match.
June 4, 200817 yr tbh i wouldnt like to see anyone comeback... its a gamble, would they be as good? better? or worse?.. i dunno, but i tend to believe that pop music should be youth led, like it was throughout the greatest periods in music history.
June 4, 200817 yr Another band I'd mention would be The Fugees, Wycliff has mades some pretty decent solo material by himself, but would sound ALOT better with the rest of the band, [Hips Dont Lie? Dont think so!].

Dont think so!]. oh i dunno... the ONLY fugees/member of tracks ive ever liked was lauryn hills 'doo whop (that thing)' generally i cant stand 'em! :)
June 4, 200817 yr Carter USM in 2007 - the comeback shows were so big that they're playing two more this November. Yes, I have my ticket! Also going to watch MBV at the Barrowlands in a month's time!
June 4, 200817 yr Also going to watch MBV at the Barrowlands in a month's time! I managed to get a ticket for the FIFTH show at the London Roundhouse on June 24th...... God, I'm so fukkin' PSYCHED...... :w00t:
June 5, 200817 yr Me too! Didn't get to see them the first time round. I did, but I'm still totally psyched..... We're gonna party like it's 1991......  Hope Kevin and Bilinda actually get the finger out and bloody come up with this third album.. I'd just be SOOOOO upset (and annoyed) if this turned out like the Pixies comeback - a tour with nothing at the end of it as far as new material goes... Hell, even Bauhaus managed to do a new album last year. Pretty bloody good it was too.... You can now totally see where the likes of Editors, Coldplay and Interpol borrow their ideas from....
June 5, 200817 yr The most shocking comeback was Alice Cooper's comeback in 1989 with Poison. He hadnt had a hit since 1974 and was a washed up alcoholic when he released the pop metal classic which reached no 2 in the charts(should of been number one). He's continued to be popular worldwide threw out the 90's and 2000's and is still considered a rock legend. Edited June 5, 200817 yr by Joey Deacon

You can now totally see where the likes of Editors, Coldplay and Interpol borrow their ideas from.... but Bauhaus never had an original idea in their pretty little heads anyway.... ;)
