July 23, 200915 yr She started her own label, Malabar Records. I guess Island is for distribution? I don't know how this works I am just as confused as you.
July 25, 200915 yr Author Nat's session guitarist posted this yesterday: "Off to London tonight. taking part in the new miss imbruglia video tomorrow 'wild about it'. should be good fun!" . And today, from the official twitter: @natimbruglia On the video shoot for a nice little pre 1st single track. E.M. Pre first single
July 25, 200915 yr I am just as confused as you. :P basically the way this works is that the artists own label finances all the recording/promotion, and makes all the decisions and pays for all that, etc. The record label (ie: island) is paid by the artist to distribute the albums as they have all the resources to distribute an album. sometimes they can help in marketing also as they have links and contacts, but the artist makes the decisions as they are the ones with the doe to pay for stuff.
July 25, 200915 yr Author The video shoot today is for "Wild About It", a pre-first single track, confirmed on her official twitter. I guess "Want", the first single, will be released later, september maybe?!
August 3, 200915 yr Author From the official site: NEWS NEW ALBUM Natalie Imbruglia is set to return to the charts with her highly anticipated new studio album ‘Come To Life’ released on Island Records on October 5 in the UK and Oct 12th in Europe. It will be preceded by the single ‘Want’ on September 28. The album was produced by Ben Hillier (Blur, Elbow, Depeche Mode), and features three writing collaborations with Coldplay including the first single ‘Want’, which Natalie co-wrote with Chris Martin. One of the tracks is produced by Brian Eno. Four years after her last studio album “Counting Down The Days” debuted at No 1 in the UK, Natalie’s total album sales now amount to 8 million worldwide, whilst her single sales total over 2 million. “Come To Life”, though, charts an entirely new path for this vastly under-rated artist. This remarkable record combines dark, driving beats and gorgeously wistful ballads into a totally cohesive whole. The full tracklisting for the album is: My God Lukas Fun Twenty Scars Want WYUT Cameo All The Roses Wild About It Natalie will be previewing material from her new album at a show at the Luminaire in London on August 12. The show sold out the day it was mentioned on the Luminaire website, before it had been officially announced. Single: Want – 28th September Album: Come To Life – 5th October
