YOUR next ruler, not ours.... or is he?

Mate, it doesn't really matter.. Whoever the next Prez is, OUR PM will kiss their arse and do whatever they tell them let's face it, seems to be OUR Foreign Policy <_< , so it's probably better off it being a less objectionable arse than the one that's been for the past 8 years.... And that less objectionable arse is surely Obama...... McCain is coming across like another Right Wing nut, so he'll probably have us all going into fukkin' Iran and getting more of our boys and girls killed needlessly, not to mention probably precipitating MORE suicide bombs going off in our streets..... -_-

i know, which is why i dont care one jot who gets in.

You should still care who gets in to a certain extent.. Like I say, whoever the Prez is, is who our PM is gonna be arse-kissing....

Im hoping commonsense will prevail and America chooses not to elect another Republican after the disaster thats been Bush. Obama seems like a genuinely decent, honest guy... we can certainly trust that he is genuinely against the Iraq war and will effectively end it soon, as he gave a big speech condemning the war back in 2003 when the Democrats generally (including Hillary Clinton) were in favour of it. I also trust him not to start a war with Iran without a VERY good reason. He should also do a lot for the environment, is very liberal on social issues including gay rights and abortion, and hopefully (considering Clinton is almost certain to have some kind of influence in his administration), there will finally be universal healthcare introduced.

Here's hoping that he wont end up being assassinated.... -_-

It would prove how fukked up America is though wouldn't it...? A racist, mass-murdering war-criminal like Bush goes eight years unmolested, and Obama brings in serious reforms in the US and ends up like Kennedy..... Of course we all know why Kennedy was assassinated - He didn't want to go into Vietnam, and he stopped the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba... What's the betting that history may be repeated.....?

There's a very real fear that he'll be killed either before November or in office if elected. There's more chance before though as it's difficult to assassinate the US President. The head of the Klu Klux Klan was questioned by the FBI and Secret Service recently for saying he's sure some white guy will kill Obama. Let's hope the Secret Service do their job well but even they're said to be jittery. They've turned his home in to a virtual fortress. Michelle Obama complained that she couldn't even go to the corner store to buy milk without two Secret Service agents accompanying her. Well she better get used to that if he's elected!!

I'm sure I read somewhere quite a while ago, that Obama already had Presidential levels of Secret Service protection, which just goes to show there's a great fear there.

Yeah he's had it a full year already, ever since he announced he was standing. Usually it's only after the August conventions that the nominees get SS protection. Hillary has it anyway, as a former First Lady. Obama's protection is second only to the Presidents now though, with armoured cars, decoy vehicles and dozens of agents as bodyguard 24 hours a day. Still may not stop a determined attacker or group though.

Very true, no amount of protection will make any one 100% safe and secure.

According to one report I've just read, it's more likely to happen before he's elected as his security, no matter how tight, won't be as tight as he'll get as President.
If Obama was killed the Democratic Party would win in November - no matter who they nominated.

Hmmm, well if that happened the coppers shouldn't just confine their search for the culprits to the KKK... Hillary...????

Okay, in all seriousness, Hillary Clinton was allegedly involved in the very murky Whitewater affair during her hubbie's presidency, so I dunno, would arranging the assassination of her political rival, blaming it on some KKK patsy, thereby sailing to victory actually be truly beyond her.......?

I haven't read about any legitimate, specific fear of assassination. You guys need to remember that racism absolutely still exists in the US and it's especially clear in education, urban planning, the elgal system, the criminal justice system, etc. But there haven't been racial lynchings here for decades. And of course a KKK leader will claim that it's inevitable - they've been exaggerating their dwindling influence more and more each year.

Obama has had secret service protection for a while but Hillary already had it and McCain, if he doesn't already, could certainly afford his own, seeing as how he's a billionaire (through marriage). And I live only a couple miles from Obama's house... I've walked and driven by several times. Honestly I would put the assassination of George Bush at a much higher likelihood and that has yet to happen.

There's always a risk that some attention-starved crazy person will take a shot. But Jodie Foster has a wife now and she seems content

I would hesitate to say anything is beyond Hillary Clinton.

Having said that, I think it'd be far more likely if an assissination were linked to the Bush administration. He has surrounded himself with utterly corrupt, power-hungry scumbags and we all know people like that don't give up power easily (Mugabe, Putin, etc.). Bush and his cronies have deemed oil more important than human life (hence the invasion of Iraq) and they've unapologetically and with little hesitation authorized the slaughter of thousands of people, Iraqi and American alike. Why not take out Obama? Hell, blame it on Iranian terrorists, firebomb Tehran, cancel the election and declare a state of emergency!

I've never really been into this mindless, senseless "Hillary Clinton is the devil" thing. If Hillary Clinton is the devil, what does that make George Bush and.... Dick Cheney? :puke2: When her headquarters got breached there was a SERIOUS discussion among Republicans on Youtube about how this was just a scam to use again Ron Paul (who was polling 1% at the time). It really is just senseless.

Look at the pollclash above for more proof. Somehow, people (presumably Americans) have decided that history will treat Nixon and Clinton equally. That really should have been no contest. Nixon was behind a f*cking robbery of the Democratic HQ and had to resign. Then he got controversially pardoned by the new president.

I was voting for Hillary Clinton, but now I'm voting for Obama...obviously.

I would rather eat my own foot then vote for Bush Jr. John McCain was very smart, I will give him that. Before he got the repubican ticket he acted as if he had some liberal point of views, but now I can see he was full of $h!t, much like the wonderful George we all know and love.

Not that I would have voted for him anyways. The Republicans will just bring us more into the $h!tter, hopefully the majority of America will realize that.

Well, not really, but clearly the best candidate. I also liked Hilary, and would have been fine with her as well.
