tbh those sales figures surprise me.... a significant drop, and shifting 250k units they can be as c**p as they like! lol.

I find it hard to believe the sales for Sundown and DTMYS are correct, especially DTMYS, 7k for a single that peaked at 11 and spent 8 weeks on the chart? and Sundown had 2 weeks in the top 10 and 5 weeks in the top 40 matching FNM (which only had 1 week in the top 10).

I think IDream was what did the final blow, i think if they re-worked their sound they could have had an awesome third album, but instead ruined it by adding 5 new people.

I'm not surprised about the sales, actually ...

I never liked them. And I knew they were not having the success of the old days anymore.

That #11 single that supposedly sold 7,000 in total probably sold that in the first week, I'm certain 'Sundown' did more too.

But it's not because of the singles why they were dropped, I suspect it's because their second album did so dismally.

both are linked though... the singles are the advert for the album and they went down.

put it this way.... if they were selling loads, they wouldnt have been dropped!

DTMYS actually charted in the first week of 2004 not the last week of 2003, when sales are very low, so they were probably very lucky to get to #11. I think the 7000 could be right.
tbf... At that time, sales of singles were declining anyway. And also most of their pop fans had grown up and their music just wasnt that appealing.

I thought it was because their second album did really badly? I didn't realise the singles were selling so few though either :heehee:
and yee, at the start of the year not many cds get released, so if you release at the end of a year, you'll more than likely chart in the next year...

i always thought it was cause they added 5 new people and became I Dream *shudders*

I agree. Nasty.

*Washes self*

They were $h!t anyway but their last two singles sold more than those totals. Ok not a whole lot more but still :heehee:

Bless them.

Anyway I found on Haven in the year charts cos I was bored.

One Step Closer 280,000

Automatic High 170,000

New Direction 113,000

Puppy Love 100,000

Fool No More 51,000

Sundown 62,000

And official from Music Week for the week it was released for 'Don't Tell Me You're Sorry'

10,705 Sophie Ellis Bextor [i Won't Change You] (9)

10,339 Atomic Kitten [Ladie's Night] (10)

10,312 S Club 8 (11)

I knew Sundown sold more cos Fool No More fell really quickly :heehee:

Oh Yeah Go ME.

That makes more sense. It was pretty obvious they sold more than 7k of Dont Tell Me Your Sorry.
