Posted June 29, 200817 yr Obvious 4 choices, i could even leave Liverpool out of this i'm that confident. Personally, i reckon it's another United Championship winning season, even if Ronaldo leaves. i expect Everton, Villa, Pompey, City and Spurs to mount serious pressure on the top 4, making the title even closer than the last campaign. I expect Michael Ballack to win PFA Player of the Year 2009, he's peaking at Chelsea, and has really shown he's World-class during the Euro08, despite losing 2 UEFA Champions League finals AND a World Cup final, i expect him to come good tomorrow and continue the form into next season. So VOTE away, say who you vote for so we can dig it up come May 09. Edited June 29, 200817 yr by This Charming Man
June 29, 200817 yr Far too early to tell yet. Barely any of the big 4 have made any signings. Bosingwa and Ramsey are the only two that spring to mind for me. If Chelsea have the 'blank chequebook' that everybody is talking about then that obviously places them at a major advantage, but then if Ronaldo leaves United for £60m+ then that'll prove just as effective. If the rumours are true and Drogba, Lampard, J Cole, etc. are all on their way out from Stamford Bridge to be replaced by Deco and co. then they'll obviously need time to gel which would have me leaning more towards United. Gut feeling has me saying United what with Scolari being new on the scene too but like I say it is far too early to call anything. And obviously you can never dicount Arsenal either, based off last seasons performance this one's surely destined to be their season. Just depends who they buy to replace Hleb and Flamini in midfield really.
June 29, 200817 yr Personally I don't think Arsenal have a prayer. I think they overachieved massively last season and unless they sort their wage structure out will be going nowhere fast...
June 29, 200817 yr Obviously I'm deluded and say Middlesbrough, since we always seem to play well against the big 3 + Liverpool. In reality, depending how the arrogantaldo situation resolves, it's got to be United all the way.
June 29, 200817 yr Far, far too early to tell. If Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal all lose one of their top players (which seems likely) then there's no guarantee now long it'll take for them to regain their backbone of the side. If Chelsea lose Lampard and Drogba then they'll be hard to replace. I don't think someone like Deco is grafted for the EPL myself, but we'll see. I know a lot of people seem to be writing off Liverpool already (and even I don't think they'll win this season) but they won't be far away at all. If they capture Barry (which looks v.likely) and then another striker and a decent winger then they won't be far off at all.
June 30, 200816 yr Good price but he'll probably be another Shevchenko. Also if Lampard leaves Essien and Ballack are still both better and should have first team places over Deco.
June 30, 200816 yr Yeahh, I think it's a dead cert than Lampard is off now, just seems to be a straight switch basically. Deco's only signed a 2 year contract though, which could be a good thing if he flops.
July 1, 200816 yr Author He won't flop, Shevchenko wasn't and never will be world-class, Deco is and Scolari will use him just like he did for Portugal. Expect one forward upfront for the Chavs, aswell Ballack - Deco - Essien with Deco dictating the play, probably Malouda and J.Cole being his Simao and Ronaldo, or perhaps Quaresma, who knows....
July 1, 200816 yr Scolari will go for Quaresma, and so will Mourinho no doubt. I don't really care where he ends up, I think he's possibly the most over-rated winger around at the moment... especially for the money that's being talked about in the papers and on the net!
July 3, 200816 yr Will go for Man U, if they keep mostly the same side. Chelsea likely to make a good few changes, so might take time to gel. Arsenal might finish second this year. Still not convinced Liverpool will be any closer.
July 4, 200816 yr Scolario needs to prove what a great manager is and sell Malouda. I can't believe he was palyed in favour of wingers like SWP who was actually beginning to show some good form at Chelsea.
July 5, 200816 yr Well he had a good run for us last year then got left to rot on the bench as soon as Avram came along. Malouda has got to be one of our worst players though and shouldn't be anywhere near a top 4 club.
July 5, 200816 yr SWP isn't great but behind Malouda, I wouldn't have played him ahead of Commons for Forest, he was completely dreadful in every game I saw him apart from the Community Shield match, SWP and Kalou were leagues better than him for Chelsea.
