Ugh can't people PM someone asking for a link or have a hunt for yourself. The pop forum seems to be clogged up with constant requests and nil discussion. Totally spoils the purpose of the forum.

While I'm inclined to agree with you that it's easier to do it via PM, I have no problem either way. What would we replace it with? Constant variants of 'I like this song' and going 'ooh' and 'ah' at a new video?

It's not really interrupting normal business around here, and while the forum needs some livening up (which I am brainstorming in ways to do so, maybe I should consult with my fellow mods...) it's not going to be done by stopping people asking for links in threads.

But it'd certainly put people off joining/lowers the general standard. It's as if you're suggesting "any posting is better than no posting". It just makes the forum look unprofessional and clogged up.

In a perfect world we'd replace such requests with a bit of quality discussion. In the past (and on most other music forums) people requesting for links isn't tolerated for the reasons I've stated. Run a good forum, don't just sit there and allow anything to be "acceptable".

In a perfect world. I'm hoping that in the lead up to Christmas, more acts will have discussion worthy of the forum with releases. The thing about the pop forum, the artists generating the most discussion are in their own artist forums, rightfully so, leaving the place full of album threads of flopstars and old returnees, who, with the exception of people like J.Lo, Nicole and JoJo, aren't sticking around the front page for very long. I'm hesitant at doing anything which will lower posting numbers. In order to get quality discussion, you need to find it.

Maybe we should make a rule that if you request a link of a song or album in a thread, you have to come back and write a full review of it in the same thread.

Also, putting people off is a minimal problem, I'd hope, because of the main draw being the chart forum, which at times is far worse than here. More seriously, I don't want to be seen as a fascist mod running roughshod over people and telling them what they can and can't post, so most things are "acceptable" with me. And forbidding the posting of 'link plz' is something we'd have to take above me, I'm sure, because it goes on in the other genre forums as well.

But it hasn't become a problem in any other forum like it evidently is becoming in here. It's doesn't add anything to the discussion therefore it is nothing less than spam?

I wouldn't say it's become a problem, only in two threads have I seen a large amount of it (this and the Pixie one). I do see a fair amount of it in other forums, maybe it's just the frequent visitors here that make it more noticeable.

It doesn't add to the discussion, but I'm hoping that people getting the track will allow them to add to the discussion themselves (bit naive, I know, but I can hope). It's just asking a question, especially if no-one has announced that they have a link.

It's a difficult one anyway, and I'm not sure on my feelings about it.

Isn't your moaning about people asking for a link, more distracting and probably more offputting?

I'm sure it is to anyone who was hoping this was a more slovenly version of a file-sharing website. Have you been distracted yourself?

Finally been given an Adds date - November 1st. Bit late considering it would've been on iTunes for almost two months by then...

ETA: Video will be out end of October.

  • 4 weeks later...
Is that the guy who was in Life Unexpected?

There was supposed to be a bunch of stunts and fire and what not but apparently it was cut out of the video.
I expected more after this long wait. I thought I saw behind the scenes of him having a bike crash...

It just sucks as JoJo has been talking about how it's a story driven video about a disastrous relationship blah blah but really it's turned into a performance video like Jark said and I'm feeling very underwhelmed. Why cut all that stuff out? *sigh*

I also think she looks DIRE in that red tartan jacket... she looks really pasty in that scene.

Boring video, it deserved a much more dramatic video, alot more could've been done with it! Shame.

Bit disappointing as like others have said, it could've been so much more but to be totally honest I'm just happy to have a video at all. Although two things, she needs to dye her hair back lighter asap, the black doesn't suit her at all, drains her and makes her look oldddd. I understand why she has done it as she's coming back mature and the albums darker etc...but not good!

Also, been watching a few live videos of 'Disaster' and her voice sounds a hot mess. Don't know if she's ill or what but if she isn't her voice sounds really damaged, she's really over singing, and straining horrendously. One performance she was practically singing the whole song in a lower key throughout, she couldn't hit any of the higher range. Hopefully she can sort it out for the upcoming promo. (If there is any).
