After watching some more live performances, on a positive her stage presence and confidence is pretty amazing to watch. It just annoys me as I know she really has the potential to achieve big things, she has everything but she just never seems to have luck on her side. It's really nice to watch how into it she is now though, you can really sense she believes what she is singing, I'm glad she's had a lot more input.

 

Oh, and her body is looking hott!

Bit disappointing as like others have said, it could've been so much more but to be totally honest I'm just happy to have a video at all. Although two things, she needs to dye her hair back lighter asap, the black doesn't suit her at all, drains her and makes her look oldddd. I understand why she has done it as she's coming back mature and the albums darker etc...but not good!

 

Also, been watching a few live videos of 'Disaster' and her voice sounds a hot mess. Don't know if she's ill or what but if she isn't her voice sounds really damaged, she's really over singing, and straining horrendously. One performance she was practically singing the whole song in a lower key throughout, she couldn't hit any of the higher range. Hopefully she can sort it out for the upcoming promo. (If there is any).

Well like I said, I thought she may have been ill, but where she's been ill, not rested and carried on performing her voice is very raspy. It sounds good on some bits but not when she needs to hit the big notes.

Yeah, the overall performances are good, her voice just doesn't sound right to me. I don't think it's even to do with her being ill, it sounds like her voice has got deeper as it's matured, as like you said she doesn't wanna hit the high notes at all. The raspiness sounds great on certain parts of the song but when she's trying to hit the bigger notes I'm thinking to myself she so isn't gonna be able to do this. I hope she hasn't damaged her voice from over singing as she has been doing a lot of live performances.

 

Anyway, has the video had any effect on itunes in the US?

Currently at 504 on iTunes. But Airplay is picking up and i think she's jumping on another tour as well as loads of promo for the single :D Either way I doubt this is the single that will launch the album.

Any news on a UK release date?

She's planning on coming over to Europe to 'make the singles presence felt' or other. Probably won't be until the new year now.

I'm so sad JoJo flopped :( I was hoping Disaster would be as successful as TLTL. Seems I was sorely mistaken!!

It's all her label's fault. The song was comfortably top 40 with sales and it's now 42 on radio. Had they released the single, sent it to radio and premiered the video in the correct order/timeframe in addition to actually promoting it, it would have likely been at least a decent hit (there are so many people I've spoken to who love the song but didn't have any idea she was even releasing new music until I showed them).

 

I do wonder if Blackground are purposely sabotaging her now because she took them to court. The label is just shady - I still remember what they did to Timbaland when he tried to sue them.

No, she's on both labels. They're both handling her - she's said countless times on twitter that she's still on blackground and I remember an interview where she spoke about there being a lot of differing and contrasting opinions in meetings.

 

And I'm not disappointed about the mere fact that it hasn't smashed, but rather that it hasn't been handled well at all. It's just bizarre that the single was released all the way in september and they waited over a month to premier the video & give it an adds date, and by that time it wasn't in the top 1000 or whatever. It would have been fair enough if they had done everything right and the single just wasn't strong enough/she needed big promo. But it feels like it had a lot of potential but was a complete waste.

 

But IDK, they seem to be just watching to see how the single fares before they put any money behind it. I imagine they will bring out something new/different in 2012 and we'll see what happens.

There's going to be a second and probably a third single before the album. Tbh, you can probably strike The Other Chick off as a Buzz Single and consider this to be a proper buzz single. She's been touring and appearing on radio like crazy. Like I said she's been gone for 5 years, the label need to rediscover who her audience is because only the major hardcore fans are going to still be supporting her 5 years later.

They're still trying to make 'Disaster' happen. It's starting to pick up on US radio with some of the majors only just starting to give it some airplay. It's currently scheduled for a Spring release and April keeps getting thrown around. There'll definitely be a second uptempo single before the album.
