The budget for her videos has clearly been tiny this time around; she p!ssed it all away in the studio!

only to then leave most of the best tracks on the cutting rooom floor :( it makes no sense

There are few things I want to say...

1. Kylie has been in the music industry for 20 years with lots of up and down. She's seen it all so I don't think she would freak out like "oh my career is over coz the one is not in Top 40!", and that's what some of us is doing here. ;)

2. A move to Universal or Polydor, whatever you wanna call it, would be good, although Polydor messed up Trip the light fantastic last year. -_-

3. If the rumours is true, then I really want her to do something that's not pop/dance this time around. A fresh perspective is not just about changing label, it's about changing music style and give your fan a boost, 2 hearts has done that to me. ^_^

4. How much would Universal pay for Kylie?

5. There is no points to promote an album and try to another million when your artist is going to another label. That would be like promoting for your competitior!

RBM:

1. I agree :P

2. Fascination, a sub-label of Polydor, are in charge of Sophie. Polydor themselves didn't mess up Trip, Fascination did :P Kylie would be on Polydor who are a bigger (more capable) division of Universal.

3. She could stick with pop-dance whilst still giving us a change of image/direction. She could go altogether darker, for example do what Madonna did on Confessions On A Dancefloor. We don't need bubblegum pop...

4. Who knows :o I doubt anyone would pay massively for her following the severe disinterest in X, which hasn't even sold a million copies globally. Still she could command a few of a few million pounds, I'm sure.

5. So true. :heehee:

Agree about the videos thing. For example Come Into My World was much better imo than WOW or IMA :(

And personally, anyway nothing, including her leave the Ploydor, can make me love Kylie less

the in my arms video was amazing, loved it. wow was ok, not amazing. i just think emi are cutting back on how much they spend on an artist, thats why the videos were cheap. and i also think she spent alot in the recording studio BUT X is an amazing album, i love it and imo its her best work.

2. So Fascination is a sub-label of a sub-label. -_-

3. True but I do want her to record an album with different sounds.

Oh yeah, I hope she changes her label in Australia, namely Warner Music Australia. Thus, no more conflicts about her future release in Australia will ever happen again! (if you don't know what I am trying to refer to, look at the WD documentary and IMA mess...)

so is the one allowed to chart? http://www.theofficialcharts.com/chart_rules.php here are the rules. from hat i could get, a request from EMI or whoever wouldnt work without a reason for example if the song wasnt available on general release, but it is through i-tunes. oh my god, so confusing

hey dannyboy, sorry if this is mentioned somewhere else but there seems to be some confusion- on what basis isn't it eligible? (kinda hope this is true) where did you find out?

So many good points on this topic page, agree with nearly them all.

X is a good album but it is a mixture of styles and never confidently found one IMO and therefore the mediocre tracks stick out like sore thumbs. It had a huge mass of promotion and interest pre-release but with Kylie busy trying to crack america then touring again, the proper promotion couldn't be done. I think her record company/PR people have messed up though, single choices and album track choices and order, release timing, scrimping on time and money for videos, and also i think her image has lost a little of the trend setting that she is usually capable of.

I think she has every right to be pissed off about this, as i think X was expected to be another fever, a massive comeback album due to all the anticipation and press surrounding her illness. Putting things in perspective though, it has already outsold Body Language and Light Years (her other 2 emi studio albums), and few albums sell as many as fever did so i assume her reasons for leaving may more be lack of control and poor management rather than lack of success.

Basiaclly it comes down to the label. They can choose a song to be non-eligible and thast what they have done with The One.

thanks for that. Personally glad- if its not getting a video or a physical- though what a waste of a freemasons mix.
