I'm not really a fan of Queens tbh, I quite like the singers' voice, but not so much the music they make. I am hoping that if these two do a track together, then it should be very good. I don't think many of these tracks will make it onto the album though (well maybe one, but I think that might be clutching at straws) and all the duets will be used as B-sides. I do REALLY wanna hear them do another track with Dizzee though.

I know the feeling mate. I didn't see Queens either, but some of my friends that saw them said they were a bit under-par. Mainly because of the fact they didn't really get the crowd going. But still Josh working with Alex could be an interesting piece of music.

They have confirmed they are working with Josh :D

Arctic Monkeys have confirmed Queens Of The Stone Age singer Josh Homme is working with them on their third album.

Frontman Alex Turner said the singer is producing songs for the follow-up to Favourite Worst Nightmare.

The singer revealed the collaboration at the London premiere of the Brit-award winners' new live DVD.

He said: "We've been recording the new album with Josh Homme. It's been going really well but it's still early stages at this point."

Homme recently revealed he had entered a studio in America with the band to produce some songs.

Arctic Monkeys speak about Josh Homme-produced sessions

Arctic Monkeys

Band say they may return to the desert for more recording

Oct 15, 2008

Arctic Monkeys' Matt Helders has spoken about his band's recent recording sessions with Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme in Homme's Joshua Tree studio.

The drummer said that the sessions went well and that the band may return for more recording. He did not reveal whether the sessions were set for the band's next album.

"We did a few days in the desert and it was amazing," he told BBC 6Music. "The studio is just like a house that's converted into a studio, but the area surrounding it; you've never really seen anything like it.

"Before we went, he [Homme] was saying that special things happen there. We were like, 'What can he mean?' But it really had quite an effect on us."

Speaking about how the new material sounded, Helders said that the desert environment may have added a "spaghetti western" influence. "Maybe subconsciously there'll be some 'spaghetti' in there," he said.

He said the band may return for further sessions with Homme. "We don't know yet when he can fit it in or when we can fit it in," he explained. "We're gonna spend a bit of time listening to what we just did and see how we feel and what we wanna do next."

this is already my fav monkeys album, just because of Josh homme lol.
This album is DEFINITELY going to have a different sound to it. Less raw and edgy, and more dark and toned I reckon. I just wanna hear some of their new stuff!
i m not really sure if they ll finally release these tracks but in every i think that some of these versions could see the light in a future Desert Sessions release
Well the Oasis comparisons are out the window as they're already more creative then them  Very much looking forward to this as I'm fascinated by this combination :D

Arctic Monkeys 'could finish new album this month'

Matt Helders reveals more details on the follow-up to 'Favourite Worst Nightmare'

Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders has said the band could finish their new album this month (November).

As NME.COM previously reported, the band recently completed sessions for the album with Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme at his Joshua Tree studio.

Now Helders has told The Guardian that the band could complete the album this month - although they aren't putting any time limits on themselves.

"We're gonna do a bit more recording next month [November] and then we'll probably be in here [the band's rehearsal space] for most of December getting ready to go out again," he said.

"We made a start on [the album] a few weeks ago and we're gonna go back and try and finish it off. That'll be two blocks of two weeks. It's probably do-able for us to finish it in this next block. But we don't want to put pressure on by saying, 'we've got to finish it this time'."

I still think an April 2009 release for the album... might come a little sooner, but time will tell I guess!
I don't care how soon as it's released as long as it's up to their standards at least, if not better :P

I just cant wait to hear stuff with Josh, is he the main producer of the album?

I don't think so. I think James Ford is again? Although i'm not entirely sure.

i like James Ford but Josh Homme>>>>James Ford
i like James Ford but Josh Homme>>>>James Ford

They both have different sounds. James Ford has more of a lighter/dancier sound, whereas Josh Homme's work will be more heavier and rougher sounding.

I THINK Josh is doing most of the album but I could be wrong here but James Ford is involved again and rightly so after doing such a good job with the last one and LSP :D

If I'm right it's mainly James Ford...

Anyway, today on NME TV it said that the album may be recorded before Christmas and then out early 2009. And the Arctics will play "every possible festival" next year.

Didn't Klaxons also say that? :heehee:

I still think a April 09 release for the album though... they'll DEFINITELY play Reading and Leeds next year imo. And probably T in the Park... not so sure about Glastonbury though. I really do hope they headline Reading and Leeds. But there'll be f*** loads of d!*kh**d chavs near the front trying to mosh.
