June 12, 201213 yr Author Yip, it might be sh*t (allegedly) but it is pulling in the punters. More money for Old Bonio it seems. Although apparently so many previous actors/producers/stage hands are suing for breach of contract etc etc he might not be left with much of a profit

March 20, 201312 yr  U2 MEMBERS TO APPEAR IN COURT OVER 'SPIDER-MAN' LAWSUIT  3/20/2013  U2's Bono and The Edge will appear in court on May 28th, along with the other producers of the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, as they battle original director Julie Taymor. Taymor, who was fired from show in March 2011 when it seemed to be headed for disaster, filed suit in November 2011 against the musicians and producers, claiming that they were making money off her ideas and script and that she was owed $1 million. The producers countersued, claiming she had been fired for breach of contract. Although some settlements have been reached, Taymor is still fighting for creative control of the show in the future. Although it received mostly negative reviews -- many of them centered on the music by the U2 team -- the $75 million Spider-Man became a Broadway hit, pulling down $1 million a week in ticket sales. March 31, 201312 yr BONO & EDGE'S SPIDER-MAN HEADING TO LAS VEGAS    Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark is headed to Las Vegas. That's the word from Michael Cohl, whom Bono and The Edge brought in a few years ago to help save the Broadway production when it was mired in financial and pre-production troubles. According to Billboard.com, Cohl spoke about S2BN (his company) and its plans for Spider-Man during an interview at Canadian Music Week today: S2BN, a diversified international family show and event entertainment company, is also bringing "Spider-Man" to Las Vegas. Next, Cohl says, it will be an arena show. "We know what to do. We've got a redesign ready and I think it can be a much better show in an arena. It can be pretty crazy with all that space. It should've been an arena show from the beginning. The space in the theatre in this [stretched his arm modestly] and the space in an arena is this [widens his arms]." Spider-Man is now in its third year and remains one of Broadway's most popular shows. According to Broadway.com, it was the fifth highest-grossing show for the week ending on March 24th, with more than $1.1 million in ticket sales. Billboard reports that Cohl said Spider-Man will "definitely" last at least five years on Broadway and "we could be there for 15 [years]."  source.. atU2.com Edited March 31, 201312 yr by Sydney
May 31, 201312 yr Author From http://www.holymoly.com/music/news/u2s-spi...s-happened66914  U2s-spider-man-musical-celebrates-1000th-performance-how-has-that happened?  Maybe the Spice Girls should’ve made theirs about Wonder Woman Thu, 30/05/2013 - 12:29 by Tim Chipping  We didn’t feel too sad about the Spice Girls’ Viva Forever closing early. It was rubbish, after all. But with the news that U2’s Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark musical has just celebrated its 1000th performance then we can’t help feeling that Ginger, Scary, Baby and Sporty were robbed (Posh clearly wanted nothing to do with it). Bono’s absurd superhero sing-a-long got absolutely panned when it opened on Broadway. The stunts didn’t work, the scenery got stuck, while one man broke his feet and another landed in the orchestra pit. :kink:  And it’s called Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark FFS! Nothing called Turn Off The Dark should be successful. It’s like someone held a competition to come up with the world’s worst title for a James Bond film. Then again, We Will Rock You has been running for 12 years and we’ve heard of people trying to sue the producers for the hours of their life they wasted watching it so…   Â

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images By RJ CUBARRUBIA August 7, 2013 11:50 AM ET  Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark needs a new lead, and anyone can be the hero. Bono and The Edge's Broadway musical is holding two open casting calls in New York and Los Angeles to find a new webslinger, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Actor Reeve Carney, who plays Peter Parker and Spider-Man, is leaving the production in mid-September; co-star Rebecca Faulkenberry, who plays Mary Jane, will also be departing, and the same open castings will be used to find her replacement as well, Broadway Tour notes.  Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, which features music and lyrics by U2's Bono and The Edge, got off to a shaky start in 2010. But though its launch was mired in legal issues and skeptical reviews, the show has stabilized and become a reliable draw on Broaday. Producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah Harris reached a settlement with former director Julie Taymor in April; Taymor was fired in March 2011 after making big changes to the show after it was panned by critics during preview performances. Though Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark is a $75 million production – the most expensive in Broadway history – it also holds the box office record for the most Broadway sales in a week, reeling in $2.9 million in nine performances. For aspiring webheads, the Los Angeles casting will take place on August 12th, while the New York casting will be held on August 19th.   Â
