July 23, 200817 yr Maximo Park are very good, 'The Coast Is Always Changing' is my favourite from them I think, I didn't think much to the album tracks from their last album. Sufjan's great allthough I only own the 'Illinois' album, I should get the other one sometime, his song namings are great. The Shins are very good as well, but I always found Stereophonics very overrated. :( Great so far. :D
July 23, 200817 yr Author http://www.100xr.com/100_XR/Artists/C/Coldplay/Coldplay.jpg 32 Coldplay I've always thought that they had quite a few very good individual songs (3-4 an album generally) but the rest is a bit boring, just pleasant enough. However the release of 'Viva La Vida Or....' has cemented their place in this top 40 - I think it's by far their best work. Favourite track: Shiver GBqRj8LwwEA Also worth a listen: Everything's Not Lost, Politik, Viva La Vida
July 23, 200817 yr Author http://old-wizard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/cure.jpg 31 The Cure A band who'd probably be higher if I knew more of their back catalogue. I should buy some more of their albums however there are so many acts I think about this and only so much money and time I have I haven't done it yet. I've certainly never heard a bad Cure song though. Favourite track: Boys Don't Cry iQhh4Xs8RcM Also worth a listen: Close To Me, Lovecats, Love Song
July 23, 200817 yr Author http://bajandopanza.files.wordpress.com/2007/11/daft-punk-daft_fond1.jpg 30 Daft Punk Purely for the sheer genious that is 'Discovery'. I've always found their other stuff fairly difficult to get into however every song on 'Discovery' is wonderful, they did once say they'd release every song on it, and there's certainly nothing that isn't single worthy. Favourite track: Aerodynamic 14xgbeHsJXI Also worth a listen: Da Funk, Digital Love, One More Time
July 23, 200817 yr :o I bum The Cure have you heard the new songs? i got two of the 7" 's the other day.
July 23, 200817 yr Author http://www.100xr.com/100_XR/Artists/D/Depeche_Mode/Depeche_Mode_2005.jpg 29 Depeche Mode I'd say my description for The Cure is just as fitting for these guys... Favourite track: Enjoy The Silence cGxOUezyCms Also worth a listen: Dream On, Just Can't Get Enough, Personal Jesus
July 23, 200817 yr Author http://thescenestar.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2007/07/26/muse1.jpg 28 Muse I may find them a tad overrated but I do think they're a damn good band (especially for singles) and they're incredible live. I own two of their albums, though don't really rate 'Absolution' that highly... I tend to find their lesser performing singles are very underrated and amongst their best. Favourite track: Butterflies and Hurricanes ZHKSrS8vJyI Also worth a listen: Bliss, Map Of The Problematique, NewBorn
July 23, 200817 yr Shins arent that good, in fact they were pretty dull at Reading last year i hardly noticed they were on stage.
July 23, 200817 yr Author http://www.clickmusic.com/upload/theprodigy300.jpg 27 The Prodigy One of the most recognisable dance acts of all time, and also one of my favourite. I find some of their stuff a lot more accessible than others but they're another band who don't really have any bad material. Favoruite track: Voodoo People -Fz85FE0KtQ Also worth a listen: Hot Ride, Out Of Space, Spitfire
July 23, 200817 yr Shins arent that good, in fact they were pretty dull at Reading last year i hardly noticed they were on stage. Well I love them ^_^
July 23, 200817 yr Well I love them ^_^ there nothing on Eagles of Death Metal, now they know how to play live.
July 23, 200817 yr Author http://www.freewebs.com/radiopumpkins_homepage/postal1.jpg 26 The Postal Service Although they've only ever released one album (which only has 10 tracks on it) they still make it this high and I kind of feel I should put them higher still. However with only one album I can't really... Although they've only had one album it is stunning and one of my top 3 ever. I adore every single second on it, it's so good for an indie-electronica album and still feels fresh today after 6 years and so many listens. They say they'll make another album though it does keep getting put on hold. Even their cover of the horrendous 'Against All Odds' was ok. Favourite track: Such Great Heights hMOkfI7wCrI Also worth a listen: Be Still My Heart, Recycled Air, The District Sleeps Alone Tonight Enough now for tonight... July 23, 200817 yr Author Shins arent that good, in fact they were pretty dull at Reading last year i hardly noticed they were on stage. I've seen a lot of people say they're not too good live.... :( Thanks for all comments so far, much appreciated! :D ^_^ Edited July 23, 200817 yr by RabbitFurCoat
July 23, 200817 yr The Postal Service. I do belive it's the vocalist in Death Cab For Cutie in that band isn't it? And my version of the album has 11 tracks on it. :o
July 27, 200817 yr Author http://www.askmeaskmeaskme.com/photos/smiths3b.jpg 25 The Smiths Like the other older acts in here, they're probably only so low because I don't know all of their material. Even so, I tend to find them (and Morrissey) a tad overrated. Maybe if I was around at the time I'd give them the appreciation they probably deserve. Favourite track: This Charming Man kGnjrTkv1gs Also worth a listen: Panic, There's A Light That Never Goes Out, The Queen Is Dead
July 27, 200817 yr Author http://www.kansaiscene.com/2003_11/images/live_SuperFurryAnimals.jpg 24 Super Furry Animals A band who I've only properly got into recently, however they're great and very underrated considering how much they've produced over the years. I think their first album is their best, though they're produced decent stuff all the time, the songs I've heard from last years album were still pretty decent. Favourite track: Juxtaposed With U 3jw7u4f-Ujg Also worth a listen: Hello Sunshine, Northern Lites, Something For The Weekend
July 27, 200817 yr Author http://www.franz-ferdinand.ic.cz/images/64-franz-ferdinand.jpg Franz Ferdinand One of two of the recent wave of indie bands that have made it to a decent level of success that I really like (the other up soon). As soon as I heard 'Darts of Pleasure' for the first time I loved it. Then 'Take Me Out' came out and I knew they were going to be a fantastic band. I was right as both albums are great. The second is vastly underrated. I do prefer it to their debut but c**p single choices didn't help in any way. Favourite track: Take Me Out x_9GR9kdZ3o Also worth a listen: Darts of Pleasure, Outsiders, You Could Have It So Much Better
July 29, 200817 yr Author http://www.neumagazine.co.uk/upload/guillemots300.jpg 22 Guillemots Their debut album defines magnificance, it's been one of my favourite albums ever pretty much since the day it was released. I adore this band and are probably a bit low but meh... Their follow-up released earlier this year is also great, but it lacks something. As a collection of songs it's wonderful, 7 of the 11 are fantastic (for some reason the singles they picked aren't in there, watch them go for 'Big Dog' next <_<) yet it doesn't ever feel like an album. They've almost tried to be so different and use so many styles it just ends up soundlike like a compilation album, albeit one of Fyfe singing with 11 different bands. Favourite track: Trains To Brazil X_aHlHc_Vb4 Also worth a listen: Last Kiss, Made Up Love Song#43, Sao Paolo (is actually my favourite, but the lack of a full-length 12 minute video means I demoted it...)
