So basically, just this thought popped into my head after hearing that McFly shifted an extra 300k sales of the newspaper of their free album giveaway, which I thought was quite poor for a 2 million selling newspaper. Wasn't Coldplay's and Radiohead's more recent 'free giveaway' much more higher? Was there any other acts? I am just referring to UK only free sales, if we are able to calculate them?

Anyone have any idea?

Prince gave away his album in the Daily Mail recently too, I wonder how well that did for them... Tyron will know. :heehee:

It had 600k extra sales than McFly, so that would be about 3m.

Well they still got their album into nearly 2.5 million homes which is good! If people bought it from the shops it'd be one of the top 20 best selllers of all time  Radiohead's album wasn't entirely free (you could pay any amount you wanted)

Luckily for me I got the Prince album when I went to see him so I didn't have to buy the Daily Nazi on that ocassion :D

I dont see the point in giving an album away with a newspaper. Surely it will damage CD sales of the artist.

Yes, that's correct :heehee:
