Surely this album must be one of the biggest selling Greatest Hits albums ever.

Particularly in the UK.

How many copies has it sold to date now?

Does anyone know what the best selling Greatest Hits albums are.

It is the 4th biggest seller in the UK of all time, behind Queen's Greatest Hits, The Beatles "Sergeant Pepper" and Oasis "What's The Story Morning Glory". It has sold just over 4.1 million copies in the UK.
and about 200k shy of Oasis in third place now :o I'm sure it will get there eventually, they still probably have another 100k left in them during this revival...maybe more

Fantastic that this album is number 1 AGAIN!! :yahoo:

It must be rapidly closing in on Oasis now for the UK's number 3 best selling album ever.

Does anyone know the latest sales figures.

'Gold' was on 4,161,172 UK Sales by Midnight on Saturday 26th July.

To climb to No.1 in the latest Chart, it sold 30,254 more copies.

So, its UK Sales are now 4,191,426

'More ABBA Gold' - Re-Mastered comes out, in the UK, on August 25th.

It will not be very expensive, & I hear that 'I Am The City' sounds much

clearer on the 2008 version.

I tried to, not so many years ago to buy a copy of More ABBA Gold, only to find it had been deleted, so I'm gonna get myself a copy later this month!

If ABBA Gold is now the oldest album to top the charts, then what album was it before? Anyone know?

Yes - the oldest Album to top the Charts before 'ABBA Gold', was

'ABBA Gold'.

ABBA have held the Chart Record twice.

October 1992 to April 1999 = 336 Weeks - 337 Weeks if we count its

first Week at No.1 - rather than every Week after that, until April 1999,

when it returned there.

Now:,

June 1999 to August 2008 = 475 Weeks - 476 Weeks, if we count its

last Week at No.1 in June 1999, until it returned to No.1 on Sunday.

So, ABBA have broken their own Chart Record by 139 Weeks - or 140

Weeks, if we count its last Week at No.1 in June 1999.

Technically it's not the exact same album as the 1992 release - the original album had edited versions of 'Voulez Vous' and 'The Name of the Game' but from the 1999 re-release they've been replaced by the full versions. That's an extremely small and picky thing, though, and anyway the gap between 1999 and now still breaks the record.

Great news about More ABBA Gold being re-released, I've been trying to find it since I saw the film but it's out of print everywhere!
