Can't wait for this. Saw the trailer for the first time the other day when watching the Dark Knight and it looked brilliant!

I really hope it's up to the standard of Casino Royale, which I thought was quite simply amazing.

Anyone else excited?

And bad luck for Leona Lewis and Amy Winehouse...it has just been confirmed that Jack White and Alicia Keys will be singing a duet for the theme tune, which is titled "Another Way to Die" :o

"Another Way To Die" would probably be a better title for the film itself, rather than "Quantum of Solace".....

The film has been pushed for a 7th November release.

is it me or does it look really boring? I don't like the idea of continueing the revenge storyline. Every Bond film should be different.

I dont agree at all.. I think in the first instance, it makes the character more human (I mean, would YOU just forget what happened to the person you loved and simply move on..?), and in the second place you fail to recognise the fact that many of the original Bond films and books would have recurring themes and villains (Blofeld, SPECTRE, etc appear in several different films/books...). The purpose of "Casino Royale" was to 'reboot' the Bond franchise, to do things a bit differently than the Moore/Dalton/Brosnan years... More 'back to basics', edgier, and, well, better as far as I'm concerned... "Casino Royale" was absolutely the best Bond film since the heyday of Connery, Daniel Craig, very much a Bond for the 21st Century taking into account the fact that the "Bourne" films pretty much re-wrote the rules of the Spy Thriller film genre with its slick style, intelligence and sense of gritty realism of the camera work and action sequences, while at the same time acknowledging the classic 60s Bond of Fleming/Connery... Genius... I like the fact that Bond is kind of doing a "Bourne" and picking up where "Casino Royale" leaves off... He took down the man, now he has to take down the organisation...

As for the release date... It's 31st October down here in London....

I loved Casino Royalea lot... but it has to be said, whilst they've rejuvenated the franchise - they've totally killed off the 007 theme tunes... the last one was the worst ever Bond theme...this one's close behind.

They really, really need to get a fabulous female voice for the next 007 theme...whilst the movies are bang up to date, refreshed and modern - the theme tunes should still be big band, overblown, OTT, timeless numbers. The last Bond theme was beyond ghastly. And this one...?

Shocking.. this White/Keys collaboration sounds bizarre and unlistenable on paper - in reality? It's worse.... who the hell decides on these themes nowadays? Whoever it is needs to de-wax....

Apart from abysmal musical choices, it looks to me like they've hit the nail on the head again with Quantum of Solace. Can't wait!

Apparently its a really average James Bond film... MSN gave it 3/5 stars saying it was an average comeback

I agree, totally, the Chris Cornell song was a disaster, this one is hardly any better (Alica Keys and Jack White???? I doubt if even a Beck/Mariah Carey duet would be more bizarre or ill-advised...).. But were many of the Brosnan Bond themes that great either....? I totally hated the Madonna and Shirley Manson ones, and Shirley Manson is someone I have much respect for as an artist.... And honestly, I cant even remember what the others sounded like....

I think David Arnold is totally over-rated as a soundtrack composer tbh... What I'd like to see is someone like Jonny Greenwood, Goldfrapp, Neil Hannon or Jarvis Cocker given a stab at writing the next Bond film score....

As for a strong female voice - well, howabout the aforementioned Ms Goldfrapp, or Sharon Den Adel (Within Temptation), Tarja Turunen....

...Mind you, complete minimalism might be an idea, I reckon I'd like to see Paul Greengrass (Bourne films, United 93) direct the next Bond film, a bit of gritty, documentary-style realism, muted colours, hand-held cams, and a sparing use of music (in fact, no theme at all, just straight into the film as with Bourne..) might be just the ticket...

it is still 31st, its 7th worldwide, 31st in UK

I've never liked the Bond themes really, tbh. HOWEVER, if they had any sense, they'd get Janelle Monae to do the theme:

Would be a perfect theme, imo.

I do hope they draft in Tina Turney again for the next theme. She's immense and SO very Bond.
Whoops, I only just got out of bed. Forgive the slippage of the fingers. :heehee: Turney however could be an affectionate nickname!

After seeing the trailer before Burn After Reading today, I could explode with excitement for this.

WHATEVAAA msn and it's 3 stars, this will blatantly be amazing.

It's splitting people down the middle from what I can gather... People are just bemoaning the fact that the one-liners and the witticisms are all but gone from Bond, and the fact that it's not "family oriented" anymore... Uhh, well, all I can say is, have any of these naysayers ever bothered to read any of Fleming's books....? Bond always was a bit of a cold-blooded bugger, and Fleming NEVER intended for his books to be "family entertainment", you would usually find Bond's books in the Adult Fiction section back in the day they were written, this "family fare" assumption kind of came along in the Moore years tbh, the Connery films were never 'kiddie' affairs either; when I was a kid I couldn't really get a handle on the Connery films (or indeed "OHMSS"), they were more adult-oriented...

Daniel Craig actually said in an interview that there were a couple of "typical Bond" lines, originally in the script, but they seemed forced and out of place amongst the darker tone of the film overall, so they were gotten rid of...

I quite agree. Afterall, as much as it's dressed up as a glamorous lifestyle of a spy, at the end of the day, Bond is a killer. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing childish about the narratives displayed in Bond.
